Celta looked like the more dangerous team in the early stages, with Alfon Gonzalez playing a prominent role as the Celestes’ main creative threat in the final third.
It wouldn’t be until midway through the first half that the Balaídos side would come close to breaking the deadlock via Borja Iglesias, but Cillessen brilliantly stopped his attempt from the edge of the six-yard box.
The Netherlands goalkeeper wouldn’t last long on the pitch, though, as a collision with Iglesias forced him to leave the pitch on a stretcher. It wouldn’t be surprising if he ends up being ruled out for the rest of La Liga's 2024/25 campaign.
Dinko Horkas replaced Cillessen between the posts for Las Palmas, and while he responded brilliantly to another Iglesias attempt from inside the box, he was left helpless when the hosts broke the deadlock in the final minutes of the first half - and deservedly so - via Alfon, who placed a curling effort past Horkas following a set-up from Iglesias to send the Gallegos into the break with the lead.

Celta’s lead wouldn’t last long, though, as Las Palmas needed less than three minutes on the other side of the break to even things up. Oliver McBurnie carried the ball inside the box and sent a low cross toward the penalty box, allowing Alberto Moleiro to score his sixth goal of the campaign after unleashing an unstoppable shot past Vicente Guaita.
Celta didn’t stop pushing the lines forward, but they didn’t have enough ideas to threaten Horkas, and they came close to paying a steep price for that when Fabio Silva capitalised on a rebound to give the visitors the lead midway through the second half, although the goal was ultimately ruled out following a VAR decision.
Despite their late attempts to secure the game-winning goal, Celta came up empty-handed and had to settle for a draw that doesn’t help them in their quest to play in Europe next season, as they now sit in ninth place with 39 points, eight points adrift of eighth-placed Real Betis.
Las Palmas will welcome the point on the road, as it allowed them to leave the relegation zone and move one point ahead of Alaves,
