Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan on Sunday.

Dumfries recently completed his fifth season at Inter and represented the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup.

Now, the 30-year-old right-back, who previously played for Sparta Rotterdam, Heerenveen, and PSV before joining Inter, heads to Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho, signing a four-year contract, that is, until June 2030.

Real Madrid will pay 20 million euros (£17m) for Dumfries, the amount set in the release clause of his contract with Inter Milan, which was renewed in 2024 and was valid until 2028.

Dumfries is the third new face in the Merengues' defence, after centre-back Ibrahima Konate and left-back Marc Cucurella, with Portuguese international midfielder Bernardo Silva also already confirmed as a reinforcement for Mourinho in what has been a busy summer of business already.
