Following a dramatic ending to their Champions League meeting with Roma in midweek, Real Madrid welcome Sevilla to the Bernabéu on Sunday night.

Madrid netted three times during the final quarter of an hour at the Stadio Olimpico, overturning Roma’s 3-1 lead to steal all three points in the unlikeliest of circumstances.

That last-gasp triumph in the Italian capital came after a positive start to their LaLiga campaign, as returning boss José Mourinho continues to fine-tune his team.

Los Blancos have won six of their opening eight league games and remain unbeaten at home, with narrow losses to high-flying Real Betis and arch-rivals Atlético Madrid as the only blemishes on their copybook.

However, José Mourinho’s men find themselves six points behind reigning champions Barcelona, who could extend this gap when they face Real Betis on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Sevilla are also in a confident mood due to a serious upturn in form. Los Nervionenses

have been languishing in mid-table for the vast majority of the past few seasons, but currently occupy fifth position in the LaLiga table.

With four wins from their first eight outings, the seven-time Europa League winners look much more like their old selves. Furthermore, Luis García Plaza’s side still boast an unbeaten away record thanks to accruing eight points outside of Andalusia, where they’ve also scored more goals than at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

There was also a crazy conclusion to Sevilla’s last fixture, which saw opponents Levante equalise twice in second-half stoppage time either side of Isaac Romero’s thunderous strike.

The industrious striker was sent off amidst the chaos, having received a second yellow card for a gesture aimed at the home support.

This keenly anticipated fixture will be broadcast live on Premier Sports, the main home of Spanish football in the United Kingdom.

Real Madrid team news

José Mourinho will be reasonably content with the current condition of his squad, despite still being without the services of a few long-term absentees. The Portuguese tactician may feel comfortable enough to rest one or two of his stars, ahead of RB Leipzig’s visit to Madrid on Wednesday.

Brazilian duo Rodrygo and Éder Militão are both recovering from the injuries that caused them to miss the World Cup, although the latter could be back in action within the next fortnight.

There was also some encouraging news for Ferland Mendy, who has now rejoined first-team training sessions following a serious thigh problem. It was the latest in a long list of recent ailments, which kept the French defender sidelined for the majority of last season.

Raúl Asencio has endured a miserable past few months, sustaining a quad injury during pre-season before requiring surgery to address a hairline fracture in his tibia. In between these two events, he was convicted for a drink-driving offence committed in his native Gran Canaria. Having gone under the knife earlier this month, the versatile defender is hoping to return in early 2027.

Vinícius Júnior commences a four-match ban, after receiving his marching orders against Villarreal. The Ballon d’Or nominee was shown a straight red card – just 20 minutes on from entering the fray as a second-half substitute – for pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair in the build-up to Real Madrid’s disallowed goal, which he himself converted.

That sparked an angry reaction from the Brazilian international towards referee Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos, resulting in the RFEF doubling the two-match suspension he received for his original violent conduct.

Sevilla team news

It’s been a frustrating week for Luis García Plaza, who has lost several of his key players through injury.

Jon Guridi has strained an adductor muscle and is therefore sidelined until the end of October, while fellow midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili is struggling with a similar issue.

The Georgian maestro has been training individually over the past few days, but could still feature in some capacity at the weekend.

However, Miguel Sierra definitely won’t be in the squad to face Real Madrid, after dislocating his shoulder during Sevilla’s 3-3 draw with Levante. With an extended spell on the treatment table to come, the 22-year-old was moved to tears as he departed the field midway through the second half.

Félix Correia also picked up a knock at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, but doesn’t appear to have suffered any lasting damage. The loanee winger had earlier doubled the visitors’ lead, after setting up Robbie Ure to break the deadlock. That was the Scotsman’s first goal since his summer arrival, so expect him to once again lead the line on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Belgian striker Lucas Stassin looks to have shaken off the groin strain that prevented him from appearing in either of Sevilla’s last two contests.

As a consequence of his aforementioned sending-off, Isaac Romero misses out through suspension.

Where to watch on TV or live stream?

Only customers who have purchased a Premier Sports subscription will be able to watch Real Madrid’s fifth home league clash of the campaign, which is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 (BST). The match will be televised on Premier Sports 1, while online viewers can follow events at the Bernabéu via the Premier Sports Player.

Premier Sports is also providing live coverage of LaLiga’s Sunday teatime fixture, as rock-bottom Málaga hope to secure three valuable points against an in-form Real Sociedad outfit.

Head-to-Head record

Real Madrid have won 13 of their last 15 league meetings with Sunday’s opponents, drawing both of the other two encounters in this sequence. Having never gone 16 consecutive LaLiga matches unbeaten against Sevilla, the hosts could set a new record this weekend.

This seems to be an inevitable outcome, given that Los Hispalenses have come away empty-handed from 18 of their last 19 trips to the Bernabéu. In fact, their most recent victory here came way back in December 2008, when a late header from Brazilian midfielder Renato sealed a famous 4-3 victory.

Nevertheless, Sevilla often manage to pick up points at other venues in the Spanish capital, having only lost twice across their last six visits to Madrid-based teams.
