City have splashed out £26m to sign the Italy goalkeeper, with the move being rubberstamped this morning.
PSG paid tribute to their Champions League winner, stating:
"Thank you, Gigio,
"After five years at Paris Saint-Germain and numerous titles, Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed a permanent deal with Manchester City.
"Born on February 25, 1999, in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, the Italian goalkeeper began playing football in 2003 at ASD Club Napoli before joining AC Milan, where he began his youth career in 2013. Early in his career, the goalkeeper made a name for himself at the 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship with the Italian national team and was voted the tournament's best player.
"His performances earned him a place in the Lombardy club's first team in the 2015-2016 season. In his six seasons with the Rossoneri, the Castellammare di Stabia native played 215 Serie A matches, 16 in the Europa League, and 12 in the Coppa Italia, including two final appearances in 2016 and 2018.
"Gianluigi Donnarumma became the youngest goalkeeper to be called up to the Azzurri squad, aged 17 years and 189 days, when he played a match against France in September 2016. A UEFA Euro 2020 winner, the newly appointed Parisian striker proved decisive in Italy's penalty shootout in the semi-final against Spain and the final against England. He was named the competition's best player for his overall performance.
"After moving to Paris Saint-Germain in July 2021, Donnarumma made his debut as a starter on 11 September 2021 at the Parc des Princes against Clermont Foot 63. Two weeks later, he made his Champions League debut for his new club in a 2–0 win over Manchester City in Paris.
"Standing 1.96 meters tall, he has made his mark over the seasons with his new club. In the 2024-2025 season, "Gigio" played 47 games, making numerous decisive saves at key moments, notably against Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal in the Champions League. A key player in the historic "quadruple" – Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions – Gianluigi Donnarumma was named to the Champions League Team of the Season and is also a candidate for the 2025 Yashin Trophy.
"In four seasons with the Rouge & Bleu, the Italian international played 161 games, keeping 56 clean sheets and adding ten trophies to his list of honors. On a personal level, he was voted Best Goalkeeper at the UNFP Awards in the 2021-2022 and 2023-2024 seasons and was named to the league's Team of the Season in both seasons.
"Paris Saint-Germain would like to express its sincere gratitude to Gianluigi for all the contributions he has made to the club and wishes him all the best for his future career."
