While Griezmann’s proposed move continues to gather momentum, sources indicate he will be just one part of a far broader recruitment drive, with further marquee names targeted during and after the World Cup as MLS prepares for what insiders describe as a new phase of growth.

Griezmann is understood to be edging closer to a summer switch, with sources confirming to Flashscore that a transfer in the next window is a strong possibility.

He is fascinated by the prospect of living in America and negotiations around a potential move will continue.

The Atletico Madrid forward was in action as the Spanish side defeated Club Brugge to reach the next phase of the Champions League this week.

Yet despite his continued importance in Madrid, there is a very real chance that his time at one of La Liga’s leading clubs is approaching its conclusion.

Orlando City are currently the intended destination. Although early discussions had pointed towards a move in early 2026, insiders now suggest a summer transfer looks increasingly likely.

Griezmann may not be alone in making the jump.

With the World Cup kicking off in the United States in June, MLS clubs are positioning themselves to capitalise on the global spotlight.

Robert Lewandowski is expected to progress a move to America, with Chicago Fire viewed as his probable landing spot.

Sources believe additional elite names will also be explored across the tournament period and beyond, underlining a concerted effort to elevate the league’s profile.

James Rodríguez has recently joined Minnesota United, while Timo Werner has signed for San Jose Earthquakes. They join established stars such as Lionel Messi and Son Heung-min among the league’s leading names.

Even Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been mooted as a potential superstar addition in recent weeks.

For now, however, Griezmann appears set to be the next high-profile figure to headline MLS’s next stage of evolution.
