Luton went into the game knowing only a win would help them avoid their worst-ever start to a league season, but Forest were going to prove to be tricky opponents at the City Ground.
It was a quiet first half from both sides but the Tricky Trees were in relative control and came the closest to scoring as Chris Wood had multiple chances - the best of which came after being picked out by Anthony Elanga but the striker fired over from the middle of the box.
Home boss Steve Cooper would have wanted much more from his side after the break and they delivered just that as they opened the scoring within three minutes of the restart.
Elanga played Wood through on goal and the New Zealand striker made no mistake this time, dinking the ball over Thomas Kaminski.
However, the Forest target-man would have been disappointed less than two minutes later as he could only steer a header over the bar after being superbly picked out by Morgan Gibbs-White.

That Wood miss almost cost his side as Luton then went up the other end and came close to equalising, only for Jacob Brown to head straight at Matt Turner with an unchallenged header.
Wood had been involved in everything going forward for Forest and after disappointingly missing chances earlier on, he would have been relieved to notch a second of the afternoon as he nodded in from Elanga’s whipped ball into the box.
It looked like it was going to be a comfortable afternoon for Cooper’s men but Luton hit back with less than 10 minutes to go after an Andros Townsend free-kick into the box was not dealt with, allowing Chiedozie Ogbene to fire in.
Having strolled through the previous 80+ minutes, Forest found themselves with their backs against the wall for the remainder of the match and the visitors dramatically equalised in stoppage time through Adebayo, who showed incredible composure to chest the ball in the box and slot past Turner.
The draw prevents Forest from moving into the top half of the table, whilst Luton sit just one point above the relegation places.
