If Amorim loses against the Hammers on Thursday night, he would have suffered 10 Premier League defeats at Old Trafford in just 20 matches therefore picking up 10 top-flight home losses quicker than any other United manager.
United fail to score a single goal last December, and Amorim will be hoping for a better showing this year as he chases a spot in the top four.
Team news
Amorim first gave some team news as he prepares to face West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo, whose side lost 2-0 to champions, Liverpool, last time out.
"We have two doubts for the game, it will change the way we’re going to approach it, let’s see if they can play," the United head coach said. "The rest of the squad is good. Matheus (Cunha) is back. Harry (Maguire) and (Benjamin) Sesko are still out."
On Cunha: "He has more levels to go. He’s at a different club, different pressure, he was struggling because he was not scoring, he was thinking too much about the numbers but the influence he has in the team is important to us," he said.
Amorim is ready for a challenge
It has been 15 years since a West Ham boss failed to win any of their first five top-flight away games, and Nuno will be hoping he can pull one over United at Old Trafford. Amorim praised the former Wolves boss and says he is ready for a challenge.
"I had no doubts he will have success," he said. "He’s really experience, he knows how to work with different squads, understands really well the league. We know it’s going to be tough, he’s really smart preparing the games.
"The preparation is about the opponent, but I’m focused on what we need to do and what we need to improve."
Social media abuse
Lastly, Amorim touched upon social media abuse which is rife at the moment as fans vent their frustration at players and coaches online.
The Portuguese manager revealed that he is a social media monk and quite often does not tap into what people have posted or written online as a way to stay mindful and positive.
"It’s normal in any profession when you are exposed to it. I don’t read it, I protect myself. I don’t watch TV when they are talking about Manchester United. Not because I don’t agree, a lot of time I do, but it’s a way of me being healthy.
"My feeling as a coach is enough, I don’t need other feelings. The only way, there is no other way, is to protect myself.
"Of course, I lose money from sponsors. On Instagram I could earn a lot of money, for my protection of my family and living a normal life is not worth some more dollars or pounds. It is not worth it.
"I protect myself and nobody can be tougher than me when we lose and when we don’t play well. Nowadays it’s really normal to have that abuse so it’s the only way to survive in this world."
