Arsenal have completed the signing of Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa, in a deal worth a reported £51 million plus add-ons.

Konsa arrives at the Emirates Stadium having competed at the 2026 World Cup, fresh off the back of a Europa League-winning campaign with Villa.

He is Arsenal's fifth signing of the summer following the permanent arrival of Piero Hincapie, as well as the additions of Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes.

“We’re delighted to have completed the signing of Ezri Konsa," Sporting Director Andrea Berta said.

“Ezri is a defender of high quality, whose athleticism, composure and tactical intelligence have established him as one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers.

"Being comfortable in both central defence and at right-back, Ezri will bring valuable versatility to our squad while maintaining the high defensive standards which are fundamental to our challenge of winning major trophies."

Konsa began his career at Charlton before joining Brentford in the Championship, with one successful campaign catching the eyes of Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old moved to Villa Park in 2019 and enjoyed seven seasons in the Premier League before completing his move to reigning champions Arsenal.

“I’m super excited. It's a privilege to be here and can’t wait to get started,” he said in his first interview as an Arsenal player.

“I want to keep winning, I’m hungry to win and that’s what I’m here for. It's a proud moment for me and my family to play for one of the best teams in the world.

“That's what I'm here for, to win. Hungry for more. I had a taste of it last season with the Europa League and I want to go for it all.

“I’m very proud (of my time at Aston Villa). Very grateful for what they did for me in my career, joining them as a boy and left as a man. I’m excited to get going at Arsenal and can’t wait to get started.”

Konsa's arrival comes too soon for Arsenal's opening clash with Coventry, but he could be involved in their following match against his former club, Aston Villa.
