Arsenal and Tottenham cross paths once again in the Premier League as they meet at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon. Both sides have met each other on 211 occasions, with the Gunners winning 89 of those meetings.
Gabriel will be out for weeks
Arteta was first asked about Gabriel, who picked up an injury during international duty for Brazil this week.
"Yeah Gabi unfortunately picked up an injury and he's going to be out for weeks.
"We need to have another scan next Wednesday and we will have the timeline much more clear.
"He's our leader in our back line and it's never a positive thing. People have to stand up now and do their job."
Calafiori is a worry
Next, Arteta moved on to another in defender in Riccardo Calafiori, who will return to training this week.
"Yeah he wasn't available, he's been carrying a few things and we had to bring him back.
"He hasn't trained yet, we have a session tomorrow so we will see."
Arteta excited for the derby
The North London derby is always an intense affair and Arteta was next asked about the significance of what he says is a beautiful game.
"It's just beautiful, especially when we play at home. We know what the team will bring in every single action.
"It's a game that required something else, emotionally. You cannot be too hyped. The game demands that in every ball and every action, it needs that little bit more than any other game. On Sunday we need a really good performance."
Arteta happy that Rooney backs Gyokeres
Earlier this week, former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney named Viktor Gyokeres in his top three Premier League players. Arteta was asked about this and was happy about his backing of the striker.
"I am really glad this is coming from someone like Wayne.
"It's not just related to the goals he hasn't scored, but the work he brings to the team, the way he opens the spaces for the other people."
Are Man City catching up?
Arsenal drew against Sunderland before the international break, whilst Manchester City beat Liverpool as they narrowed the gap. Arteta was questioned on City catching up ahead of Sunday's clash.
"No everybody is going to try and win every game, we just have to go game by game. For Sunday, we have a beautiful game for everybody.
"We've done the preparation and we know it is coming. We are ready for that and have everybody healthy, or most of them healthy. Start to generate momentum."
