Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken to the media as he prepares to take on Liverpool this week.

Arsenal have won a sensational 14 of their 15 matches this season, but are up against a Liverpool side who are currently on a longer unbeaten run than the Gunners.

Arteta’s side could beat the reigning champions in three straight home games for the first time in the Premier League era as they aim to get revenge for the 1-0 loss earlier this season.

Mosquera and Calafiori out

Speaking first on team news, Arteta revealed that Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori will not be available:

“No. They're out again. I think pretty soon (they will return). They have to go through the last stage of the rehab, and if everything goes well, hopefully soon they will be available for selection."

An update on Kai Havertz: "We are monitoring his load. He's been out for a long time for two different reasons. He's very close. He trained this morning again. Hopefully we're going to have him available and the best version of himself."

With two key defenders out of contention, Arteta revealed the importance of home fans at the Emirates Stadium, which has been a fortress this season.

"They've been unbelievable again this season. It makes such a difference. We become a different team. The level of energy, commitment, confidence and desire is transmitted by them. We need them tomorrow."

Arteta ready to prove a point against Liverpool

Moving on to Liverpool, a side who won the reverse fixture thanks to a spectacular Dominik Szoboszlai free kick, Arteta said that he is ready to prove why his side are worthy of becoming Premier League champions.

"Excited. It's a massive game against the champions of the last Premier League. We have a point to prove. We're going to have our crowd creating an amazing atmosphere.

"We are top of the table, we play at home against a really good opponent. We want to maintain our position. To do that we're going to have to be excellent throughout the game. That's the point we have to prove.

"We want to win every game. The most important one is tomorrow's. We know what we have to do to beat them. Now we have to prove it on the pitch."
