The Gunners will go in search of a fourth straight win across all competitions as they host the Black Cats at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Arsenal are unbeaten in 43 successive top-flight home games against newly-promoted clubs and will aim to continue such a record against the North East side.
Could Arsenal extend their lead at the top?
Arteta was first asked about title talk and if his side could extend their lead at the top of the table with another three points.
"We don't have much time to listen to that. We are busy with games and training. We are far from that. It's normal. We are here to learn and improve," he said.
"It's another opportunity to win. To be better in the position. That's it.
"It's going to be a really tough match. Sunderland have been in an incredible all season. We know the complexity of the match.”
Saka should return soon
Next, questions turned to team news as Arsenal deal with several injuries which have led to them stumbling against Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks.
"Bukayo Saka, his hip is much better, and hopefully very soon he will be back with us."
On Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber: "Martin, getting better. It's a matter of days for him. Jurrien is fine. He's good for the weekend.
On Max Dowman: "He hasn't trained with us yet, so still a few weeks for him, but he's getting better."
On Mikel Merino: "Mikel offers something unique, but he will be out for a few months, unfortunately, with the injury. We need to support him and keep him around because he can still add value to the team."
Sunderland won't back down
A Sunderland win on Saturday would see them become the first-ever promoted Premier League team to beat both Arsenal and Chelsea in the same campaign. The side grabbed a 2-2 draw last time out, and Arteta called for his side to be cautious.
"It's another opportunity to win. To be better in the position. That's it," he said.
"It's going to be a really tough match. Sunderland have been in an incredible all season. We know the complexity of the match.
"They are very competitive. Very good individuals. Very well coached. Very clear identity of what they want to do and where they want to take the game. They are very good at it."
