Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is set to begin contract talks with the club despite links with Manchester United.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Iraola have all been shortlisted to replace a struggling Ruben Amorim at United this season as his side sits 14th in the Premier League table.
Amorim finds himself under huge pressure following the 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday after taking just 34 points from a possible 99 in the Premier League during his time in charge of the club.
However, as pressure mounts, one candidate has been ruled out in Iraola, who will discuss terms with the Cherries in the coming months. This comes from TalkSPORT, who report that discussions over extending his deal will ramp up over the coming months.
Iraola’s deal expires at the end of the season, and after transforming his side into genuine European challengers, the club will be keen on locking him down for the foreseeable future as United watch him closely.
The Mirror reports that Bournemouth remain optimistic that Iraola will not only fulfil the final 12 months of his deal but also pen fresh terms and extend his stay with the Cherries even if United do make an approach however.
