Brazilian striker Igor Thiago has agreed to a new five-year deal at Premier League side Brentford, which could extend his stay in London potentially until 2031.

The 24-year-old has had a sterling season in England, scoring 17 goals in 26 league games, whilst also picking up the player of the month for January on the same day as the announcement.

In a statement, his head coach, Keith Andrews, said: “The connection that he has with his teammates, the staff and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and he means to us, is pretty evident for everybody to see.

“Again, it’s the person before the player. I love working with him, and I’ve loved seeing his evolution as a player. How he plays is such a big part of how we play and what our season has been so far.

“He’s been a massive player for us, so it’s a contract he thoroughly deserves, and I’m really happy that the club have been able to get it done.”

The former Ludogorets and Club Brugge forward signed for the Bees back in February 2024, but a meniscus injury saw him make his debut only in November later that year.

This season has been his breakout. Only Erling Haaland has more goals than him in the Premier League.

Brentford, who drew with Arsenal in midweek, are next in action on Monday night in the FA Cup against non-league side Macclesfield Town.
