The 'Sydney Super Cup' will see Sydney FC host Tottenham Hotspur and Western Sydney Wanderers take on Chelsea before the two London clubs face off against one another as part of their preparations for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The likelihood of first-team Chelsea and Tottenham players getting significant minutes on the Allianz and Accor Stadium pitches will be dependent on their journeys at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, which concludes just nine days before Chelsea's friendly against the Wanderers.
"Sydney is one of the world’s most iconic locations for sport," said Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank in a media statement.
"I’m excited to be able to take the team there to play two matches, including one against one of our biggest rivals.
“I’ve heard all about our passionate fanbase in Australia and it’s something the Club is very proud of. I can’t wait to experience that for myself and I know the supporters will love the opportunity to watch us take on Sydney FC and Chelsea in their home country.
“While in Sydney, as well as engaging with our fans, it’s important that we explore the local area and celebrate its culture – that is something we are all looking forward to.”
In the fortnight following the men's spectacle, Sam Kerr's Chelsea women's team are also set to head to Australia to bring the curtain down on a huge footballing festival that is expected to inject $25m into the NSW economy.
It will be the second game for the A-League Women All-Stars team after 42,000 spectators watched them lose 1-0 to Arsenal in 2024.
Brisbane Roar and Matildas star hailed the news, saying she "loved every minute" of the inaugural showdown against the Gunners.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity for the stars from across the A-League to test themselves against the best in the world, and also for football fans to see the exciting talent we have playing locally," Yallop said.
“I can’t wait to see another packed-out stadium, and come up against Matilda teammates and a Chelsea squad packed with stars of the women’s game.”
Tickets for the four matches will go on sale this Friday, December 12.
