The Italian arrived at Stamford Bridge in June 2024 following a successful tenure at Leicester City, where he won promotion to the Premier League in his first season.
Maresca enjoyed a solid first campaign with the Blues and recorded a fourth-placed finish in the league while also winning both the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
Chelsea have been inconsistent in the 2025/26 season and currently sit fifth in the Premier League, 15 points off of Arsenal in first.
His tenure ends with a record of 55 wins, 16 draws and 21 defeats.
"During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club," the club said in a statement.
"With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
"We wish Enzo well for the future."
Maresca's relationship with senior officials at the club reportedly took a hit in recent weeks and rumours quickly mounted on New Year's Eve that he was considering his future at Stamford Bridge.
His departure was confirmed on New Year's Day 2026, just days before Chelsea visit Manchester City on January 4th.
