Jack Grealish has wasted no time reminding the Premier League what he can do - and this weekend’s meeting with Aston Villa offers another perfect stage to underline his revival.

Now on loan at Everton from Manchester City, he has hit the ground running with four assists in three games.

No player in the league has managed more so far, and the spark that seemed to dim in Manchester suddenly looks alive again on Merseyside.

If this continues, Everton will be chomping at the bit to sign him permanently.

This season already feels like a defining chapter for Grealish.

Once a £100 million jewel in City’s crown, his role under Pep Guardiola shrank over the past two years.

Now, at 30, he is hungry to play with freedom, to show he can still bend matches his way - and perhaps even muscle his way back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup.

For Everton, the timing could not be better. Their move into a new stadium has coincided with a push for progress, and having one of the country’s most exciting players so determined to prove himself is a major coup. David Moyes’s side look sharper already, and Grealish’s creativity is giving them a new dimension.

But this story is not just about short-term impact.

City, despite their polite stance, do not view him in their plans and are open to a sale.

Everton’s current agreement is only for a season, but sources suggest he is firmly in their thinking beyond that. The problem, inevitably, is price.

City believe that if Grealish delivers consistently this season, he should easily command £50 million next summer.

That is believed to be the figure in his option-to-buy deal, but Everton insiders say there has been a hope internally that he might actually be attainable at a lower price, once the time comes.

With Grealish moving into the final year of his City contract in 2026, they hope the figure drops closer to £40 million.

Their dilemma- at this rate - is that other clubs might be willing to pay £50m if he truly is back to his best.

For now, all eyes turn to this weekend’s clash at Everton’s new home.

Against his boyhood club Aston Villa, Grealish has the perfect opportunity to show just how much he still has to give - and perhaps remind Villa fans, as well as City, what a fully motivated Jack Grealish looks like.
