An amber weather warning is currently in place for Storm Darragh, starting from 01:00 GMT on Saturday until 06:00 GMT on Sunday, with inland winds expected to reach up to 70mph.
Merseyside Police are advising against all "non-essential travel" and to "plan ahead", while the Met Office warn of potential power cuts and travel disruption.
"Flying debris and falling trees could result in a danger to life," they added.
The Premier League fixture at Goodison Park is scheduled to get underway at 12:30 GMT on Saturday and both clubs have advised their supporters to "take extra care".
"An amber severe wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for Merseyside from 1am GMT on Saturday, with wind gusts of 60mph to 70mph likely," the statement said. "The warning for wind is expected to remain in place until 6am on Sunday.
"Given the weather warning, fans are advised to allow extra time for their journey and take extra care.
"Supporters are also advised to keep a close eye on travel and weather guidance in their area to assist with travel planning for the Premier League fixture (12.30pm kick-off)."
Talks remain ongoing between Liverpool, Everton, Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council regarding the potential impacts of Storm Darragh, but on Friday evening both clubs expect the match to go ahead.
The fixture will be the last Merseyside derby held at Goodison Park, Everton's home since 1892, before the club move to a new 53,000 capacity stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock for the start of next season.
