Arsenal sit top of the Premier League, with seven points separating them from Aston Villa and Manchester City. The Gunners have been incredible this season and are aiming to lift their first title in over two decades under manager Mikel Arteta.
After finishing as runners-up a number of times since their last title triumph, many fans are starting to believe the North London side can finally finish first and silence any doubters.
Will Arsenal slip up?
Jeff Stelling has been named as the new brand ambassador for OLBG, which will see a new podcast The Jeff Stelling Show, launched across all platforms.
Speaking exclusively to Tribal Football, Stelling has spoken honestly about Arsenal and how their past failures could come back to haunt them despite their excellent run of form.
“The Premier League is wide open like we've said. Is it Arsenal’s year? I think it needs to be, they’ve spent a lot, a lot of money, a lot of money, from what was a pretty good base, you know, it's not as if they're trying to come from 15th to win the league.
“You know, they were right there on the premises and have been in recent seasons. So I think it needs to be, I think they've got an issue though, they've attempted to solve problems up front, and it hasn't worked out for them so far.
“I'll be interested to see whether they'll try and address that in the transfer window in January or not. Not sure. From Arteta’s point of view, you gotta hope so.
“But, you do wonder whether the scars of recent seasons will come into play at the conclusion of this one.”
The Gunners maintained their position at the top of the Champions League phase table after defeating Inter 3-1 at the San Siro on Tuesday night.
They next face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon as they try to extend their lead at the top to 10 points. A slip could see their advantage cut down to four points, however, and Stelling’s prediction may come true as the season starts to heat up with 16 games left to complete.
