19:30 BST - That concludes our coverage tonight - thanks for joining us!

19:25 BST - You can read more about Trent Alexander-Arnold here.

19:20 BST - Arne Slot has given his reaction to fans booing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

"In general and life, the good thing about living in Europe, everyone can have their opinion. That's the same here in Liverpool," the Liverpool manager said to Sky Sports.

"There were people who were not so happy, there were people who were happy for him. They clapped for him. A few of them booed.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Towards the end, a few of them got more and more positive. But for me, it's simple. I owe it to the team, to the fans, to play a team that can win a game of football.

"Trent showed it because he had two or three incredible balls. We were so close to winning it, partly because of him.

"For me, it's not that difficult. And for the fans, they can have the reaction they want. I will always back my players, the ones I lead and wear the red shirt."

19:11 BST - Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said the first 20 minutes of their match against Liverpool was "unacceptable".

"What we did in the first half, the first 20 minutes was nowhere near the level. So to do it after, it's too late. We reacted, great. But those 20 minutes were unacceptable," he told Sky Sports.

"It's about action, not reaction. You have six or seven teams praying to be in the Champions League first, and then see if we can win silverware next season. That's it, it's not about that. It's about doing the basics, the simple things where you can dominate.

"I'm not asking people to dribble past two players and put it in the top corner. Never going to do that."

18:44 BST - Andy Robertson said the second half against Arsenal "was not like us".

He told Sky Sports"I thought the first five to ten minutes, both teams were sloppy. We picked up, scored two goals. First half we dominated. At half-time we went in and said to keep the same intensity and we were miles off it.

"We lost our aggression in the press and missed our last step. Then we finished strong, I thought I nicked it at the end. I was told I may have been offside anyway.

"We've been delighted with the season we've had, but that second half was not like us. There are still areas to improve."

18:32 BST - Stay with us, reaction to come!

18:27 BST - FULL-TIME! And that's the final whistle. It was a game of two halves: Arsenal trailed to two first-half goals, but came storming back and survived Mikel Merino's red card to earn a valuable point on the road.

18:26 BST - NO GOAL! Andrew Robertson lashes the ball into the net from close range but the goal is disallowed for a foul on Myles Lewis-Skelly in the build-up. It's still 2-2.

18:11 BST - We are in to the 80th minute at Anfield. This could be a huge point for Arsenal if they can hang on.

18:10 BST - Merino's red card is Arsenal's sixth in the Premier League this season, only receiving more in the 1998/99 season (7).

18:09 BST - RED CARD! Mikel Merino loses the ball on the edge of the Arsenal area and swings at Dominik Szoboszlai after being clipped by Diogo Jota. Referee Anthony Taylor shows him a second yellow card and he's off. That's a huge blow for the Gunners.

18:05 BST - Mikel Merino is the sixth Arsenal player to score home and away to Liverpool in a Premier League season, along with Fredrik Ljungberg (2001-02), Robert Pires (2003-04), William Gallas (2006-07), Olivier Giroud (2014-15), and Gabriel Martinelli (2022-23).

18:00 BST - GOAL! Arsenal are level! Martin Odegaard has a brilliant shot from distance that Alisson tips on to the post - but the ball bounces into the path of the on-rushing Mikel Merino who heads into the back of the net.

From 2-0 down it's now 2-2! Game on.

17:57 BST - Liverpool make a raft of changes including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who comes on to boos and jeers. The fans chant "there's only one Conor Bradley".

17:36 BST - GOAL! Arsenal pull one back through Gabriel Martinelli! Leandro Trossard floats in a cross that Martinelli heads past Alisson. 2-1.

17:35 BST - Liverpool get the second half underway.

17:19 BST - HALF-TIME! The whistle blows and Liverpool go in 2-0 up at the break.

17:12 BST - We are in to the final five minutes of the first half.

17:01 BST - There were just 87 seconds between Cody Gakpo putting Liverpool 1-0 up and Luis Díaz doubling their lead against Arsenal.

16:52 BST - GOAL! Goodness me, Liverpool have doubled their lead in as many minutes. Mo Salah finds Dominik Szoboszlai in the box who in turn passes to Luis Diaz. The Colombian international has the simpest of tasks to prod the ball home from close range. 2-0.

16:51 BST - GOAL! Liverpool take the lead! Andrew Robertson whips in a teasing cross that Cody Gakpo powefully heads home. 1-0.

That was Robertson's first assist in his last 39 Premier League appearances, since providing one against Sheffield United last April, 402 days ago.

16:47 BST - Good chances for both Liverpool and Arsenal but it remains goalless.

Martin Odegaard is making his 150th league appearance for Arsenal this afternoon while Andy Robertson becomes the 10th player to make 250+ Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

16:32 BST - Arsenal need three points to guarantee a top-five finish. Can they do it at Anfield? Referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle and we're underway.

16:27 BST - Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard leads out the Gunners who form a guard of honour.

16:22 BST - Time for our focus to shift to the final match of the weekend as Premier League champions Liverpool face the current second-placed side Arsenal - stick with us for all the updates from 16:30!

16:13 BST - FULL-TIME! Forest's Champions League push takes another cruel twist after a 2-2 draw against already-relegated Leicester. Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood were canceled out by Connor Coady and Facundo Buonanotte at the City Ground. Read our full match report here.

Saturday, 10th May

20:30 BST - And that concludes our coverage tonight, thanks for joining us!

We'll be back tomorrow as the race for Europe continues with Newcastle hosting Chelsea, Nottingham Forest against Leicester with Arsenal travelling to champions Liverpool.

Plus, Man Utd and Tottenham - fresh from reaching the Europa League final - are home to West Ham and Crystal Palace respectively.

We'll see you then!

20:26 BST - Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola lamented his side's lack of finishing but said his side will "keep fighting" to secure a European spot.

"We are in a worse position than we were a couple of hours before, but we want to keep fighting. We have to keep fighting," he told Sky Sports.

"(Aston Villa) managed better the game overall. The second half I think we've improved... and we could find better positions, better moments. We had good chances but we couldn't score and take those chances."

20:15 BST - Aston Villa boss Unai Emery said his players should be "positive" in trying to qualify for the Champions League.

He told Sky Sports"Europe, Europe, we are in Europe – Conference League, Europa League or Champions League.

"Of course, we try to get our best dreams in Europe – playing Champions League again – but still we have matches to play, and there are other teams in front of us.

"But with this picture as well, we can feel positive in trying to get it."

19:59 BST - Aston Villa goalscorer Ollie Watkins told Sky Sports their win over Bournemouth was "massive".

He said: "Bournemouth are a great team here at home. They go man-to-man, they don't give you much space and they were putting us under a lot of pressure.

"I think it’s massive for us. You know, there's a lot of teams that are pushing for Champions League spots and I think it’s going to come down to the wire at the end of the day.

"But for me, getting that goal to break the record… is something I've had my eyes on since I joined the club – I said it in my first interview!"

19:41 BST - There are a few interesting stats to come out of that match, courtesy of Opta:

Bournemouth had just three shots in the opening 80 minutes of this game, and seven attempts in the final 10 minutes following Jacob Ramsey’s red card for Aston Villa.

Bournemouth have lost five of their last seven Premier League home games (W1 D1), with their previous five defeats at the Vitality Stadium coming over a 25-game spell (W13 D7).

There were 21 cards issued in the two meetings between Bournemouth and Aston Villa this season (20 yellows, 1 red), the most in a fixture in a single campaign in Premier League history.

Aston Villa have won seven of their last eight Premier League games (L1), with the Villans earning more points since the start of March than any other side (21).

The result guarantees Aston Villa will play in Europe next season - but will it be the Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League?

Bournemouth's hopes for a top-eight finish aren't over, but today's results don't help. They drop to 10th, two points adrift of Brentford who could claim that Europa Conference League spot.

19:32 BST - FULL-TIME! Aston Villa claim a massive three points with a narrow win over Bournemouth.

VIlla are now just two points clear of Man City in third with just two games to go.

19:32 BST - Bournemouth go agonisingly close but Matty Cash clears the ball off the line for Villa!

19:27 BST - Five minutes of time will be added on.

19:17 BST - Bournemouth have seen their opponents receive four red cards in the Premier League this season with only Brighton's opponents receiving more (5).

19:16 BST - RED CARD! Aston Villa are down to 10 men as the clock ticks down to 10 minutes or normal time to play!

Jacob Ramsey collects his second yellow card of the game for tripping David Brooks and off he goes. What drama! Can Bournemouth capitalise?

That was Ramsey's first red card in the Premier League, on his 135th appearance.

19:05 BST - It's been a half of very few chances so far; in fact only Villa have had the only shot on goal. The xG is especially grim reading: Bournemouth have 0.00 compared to Aston Villa's 0.06.

18:42 BST - Aston Villa get the second half underway.

18:25 BST - And there goes the half-time whistle. Villa lead at the break.

Half-time stats
Half-time statsOpta by StatsPerform

18:22 BST - GOAL! Aston Villa take the lead through Ollie Watkins in the final minute of the half! Morgan Rogers whips in a lovely cross for Watkins who edges ahead of Illia Zabarnyi to prod the ball home.

Watkins has now scored 75 goals for Villa, overtaking Gabriel Agbonlahor (74) to become Aston Villa's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer.

18:17 BST - Six minutes of added time will be played at the end of the first half...

18:15 BST - Marco Asensio goes close to opening the scoring for Villa, but his shot hits the post and bounces away.

18:11 BST - There are five minutes of normal time to go until half-time. Still 0-0.

17:54 BST - It's glorious sunshine in Bournemouth but the hosts haven't really got going yet. They’ve enjoyed 59 per cent possession, but have had only one shot on goal to show for it.

Incidentally, this is Aston Villa's 1,150th Premier League game, with only the six ever-present teams (Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs) playing more matches in the competition.

17:32 BST - Referee Stuart Attwell blows his whistle and we're underway.

17:22 BST - Bournemouth are currently 10th but can leapfrog Brighton and Brentford into eighth with a win tonight. That could be enough for the Europa Conference League if Man City win the FA Cup and finish in the top five.

Aston Villa are two points adrift of Chelsea who currently occupy the final Champions League place in fifth, with three games left to go.

Game on!

17:18 BST - Time to shift our focus to Aston Villa's trip to Bournemouth this evening, which gets underway at 17:30.

14:21 BST - Both Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have scored 18 Premier League goals this season, with only Ivan Toney netting more for Brentford in a single campaign in the competition (20 in 2022-23).

The two forwards have a golden chance to add more today.
