23:30 GMT - Thanks for joining us this weekend for another thrilling round of Premier League action. Sweet dreams!

22:22 GMT - Russell Martin has been sacked as manager of Southampton following their 5-0 defeat to Tottenham,

You can read more on this breaking story here.

21:40 GMT - Brentford manager Thomas Frank said his side were "unlucky not to get a draw" against their west London rivals Chelsea.

He told BBC Sport: "We played a very good game here. We were unlucky not to get a draw. Some big chances we missed in the end.

"We managed for the 90 minutes to go toe to toe with Chelsea, especially in the second half. A draw would have been fair.

"Chelsea are a very good team, well coached, very good players. They spent a few quid on the squad. They're playing with confidence. Credit to them for pushing us back in the first half.

"Second half we were more aggressive and played higher. You could see how much trouble we caused them by how much they celebrated 2-0 and at the time.

"They are right up there in the title race. They're very good. It was a very competitive game with two teams who wanted to win."

Meanwhile Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has said his team are still "not ready" to challenge for the title despite closing the gap at the top of the Premier League to just two points with a win against Brentford.

"We deserved to win the game," he explained to BBC Sport. "We were in control of the game except the last 10 minutes where we concede. It's normal. We created chances. We could have scored more.

"It's not about how many games we win. It's about being realistic. There are things we have to do better. That's why I said for me we are not ready."

On whether he saw Cucurella's red card, he said: "I didn't see the second yellow card. The referee said the second yellow card was for bad attitude. There are things we can do better."

21:38 GMT - Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou hailed his side's "quality and energy" in their "outstanding" win over Southampton.

"It was outstanding by the players," he told TNT Sports. "We had a tough European game away on Thursday night. We had 10 first-team players unavailable tonight and for the lads to come out with that much energy.

"We had to come out quickly because we knew we were going to get tired. We are asking a lot of our players and the quality and energy showed was outstanding."

Southampton boss Russell Martin said he didn't recognise his players after they fell 5-0 down in the first half.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: "I was hurt in the first half. We did not respond very well to the setbacks as a group. We have seen that all too often this season. After the first goal, our response was very poor.

"It's most disappointing because we had worked on a plan. We had a week's training and the players have been part of that process. But we did not carry out anywhere near the intensity or aggression we needed. I didn't recognise our team in the first half. But I am pleased they stuck out in the second half.

"At this point, it is about pride and showing some care for each other."

21:20 GMT - Tottenham climb to 10th in the Premier League table with James Maddison and Son Heung-min starring in their 5-0 thrashing of Southampton.

20:57 GMT - FULL-TIME! Tottenham have thrashed Southampton and Chelsea go two points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Brentford, but the Blues had goalscorer Marc Cucurella sent off in the 98th minute for a second yellow card despite being off the pitch.

20:51 GMT - Brennan Johnson should have made it 6-0 to Tottenham, but his shot loops over the Southampton crossbar.

20:46 GMT - GOAL! Brentford have pulled a goal back at Stamford Bridge! Bryan Mbeumo makes it 2-1 with a thumping drive. Can they grab a late, late equaliser?

20:43 GMT - GOAL! Southampton claw one back - but no! Mateus Fernandes' effort is ruled out, correctly, for offside. It's still 5-0 to Tottenham.

20:37 GMT - GOAL! It's agony for Brentford and relief for Chelsea. Nicolas Jackson scores for the Blues with a sensational counter attack. 2-0, and you would think that's game, set and match.

20:28 GMT - Tottenham are still leading 5-0 and Chelsea 1-0 with 70 minutes played, but both teams are on top against Southampton and Brentford respectively.

20:01 GMT - We're back underway at Stamford Bridge... and a few minutes later the second half kicks-off at St Mary's Stadium.

19:51 GMT - HALF-TIME! The whistle blows at St Mary's and boos ring out from the home fans. What a first half this has been for Spurs. Historic, in fact.

19:50 GMT - GOAL! Tottenham have a fifth goal! It's the first time they've scored five first-half goals in the Premier League. James Maddison with his second of the game.

19:47 GMT - HALF-TIME! The half-time whistle has blown at Stamford Bridge - Chelsea lead 1-0 in the west London derby. They will move two points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League (having played a game more) if the result stays this way.

19:43 GMT - GOAL! What timing. Marc Cucurella gives Chelsea a 1-0 lead over Brentford. It has been coming in fairness.

19:42 GMT - We have two minutes left of normal time remaining. Chelsea are peppering Brentford's goal but it's still 0-0, and remarkably, we've had no other goals on the south coast - Tottenham are still leading 4-0.

19:26 GMT - GOAL! Back to Southampton and Spurs are now 4-0 up! Pape Matar Sarr gets in on the act. A few Saints fans are seen walking out. Oh dear...

19:25 GMT - Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has told the BBC his team had complete belief in beating Man City as the game edged towards 'Fergie time'.

"It was incredible," he said. "I think we deserved it. It was a very tough match but we believe until the end. We managed to score, we needed that win, it was important for us and for our fans.

"We were in the game for 90 minutes and that is very good. We talk about the Arsenal game (a 2-0 defeat), we played well in the first half but they were not believing that we could win. Today was so much more different.

"I also believe. Then we have Fergie time and we put the things together and something magic happened. It was a good day for us."

19:14 GMT - GOAL! Goodness me. It's 3-0 to Spurs and we haven't even played 15 minutes yet. Dejan Kulusevski gets on the scoresheet.

It's still 0-0 at Stamford Bridge.

19:12 GMT - GOAL! Heung-Min Son lashes home to double Tottenham's lead after some pretty awful Southampton defending.

19:01 GMT - GOAL! Well, that didn't take long. Tottenham are 1-0 up at Southampton, James Maddison goes through on goal and scores his sixth goal of the season with ease. This could be a long night for the Saints.

19:00 GMT - Peep peep! And we're underway at Stamford Bridge and St Mary's Stadium!

18:50 GMT - Kick-off is just 10 minutes away in the final two fixtures this evening! Stick with us for all the updates.

Saturday, 14th December

20:01 GMT - That's a wrap for us this evening, we'll be back tomorrow for more Premier League action including a huge Manchester derby, Brighton versus Crystal Palace and Chelsea against Brentford. Night!

19:54 GMT - Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk praised his teammates after their 2-2 draw with Fulham.

Van Dijk said afterwards: "A great comeback is very positive. It's disappointing having 10 men but we showed fight, kept trying to create chances. Could have been more but we take the point and move on.

"Stay calm. It's easier to say than do it. It was always going to be tough against them. We saw it last year and last week against Arsenal. We had to turn it around and keep fighting."

Read more on Van Dijk's comments here.

19:44 GMT - Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was left delighted with their rout of Leicester City on Saturday.

Howe said afterwards: "It was a good performance today. The first goal was important. It took a well-worked set play to set the ball rolling, and the second goal was important too so we were able to express ourselves a little bit more."

Read more here.

19:41 GMT - Mikel Arteta praised his "unbelievable" Arsenal team despite the frustration of a 0-0 draw against Everton on a day when Premier League leaders Liverpool dropped points.

"We're very disappointed not to win the game because if there was a team obviously that deserved to win it that was Arsenal," said Arteta.

"We did everything that was necessary overall apart from the fact that we didn't score a goal. We conceded absolutely nothing, dominated all the direct play, didn't allow them to run and conceded no set pieces.

"Tracking back? Unbelievable. Putting in the high press? Unbelievable. Dominating a lot of things? Unbelievable, but the disappointing thing is that you want to come away winning after what you've done on the pitch."
