Match report
A home game with fellow strugglers Burnley was simply a must-win for a winless Wolves, and they came tantalisingly close to making the perfect start at Molineux.
Rodrigo Gomes’ cross-cum-shot had Martin Dúbravka worried, and as he palmed it back into the danger zone, Jhon Arias hammered the rebound into the side netting to the relief of the Clarets stopper.
They were made to pay in brutal fashion too, as Quilindschy Hartman’s taking a cross-field pass freed Zian Flemming in behind and first time on the volley, he just cushioned the ball back across the goal and into the far corner for his first-ever PL goal.
The same duo combined again for Burnley’s second on the half-hour mark.
Hartman ghosted in behind to play the ball across the six-yard box for Flemming, who was too strong for his marker and tapped the ball into an unguarded net.
Wolves needed a huge stroke of fortune to get back into the game, as the slightest touch on Santiago Bueno from Josh Cullen resulted in the award of a penalty.
Jørgen Strand Larsen assumed responsibility from the spot and found the bottom corner.
The turnaround was complete on the stroke of HT when Marshall Munetsi reacted quickest inside the area to head home a loose ball and leave Burnley pondering where it all went wrong.
As you’d expect of a game between two struggling sides, the second half had an edgy feel to it, but it was the Clarets who looked the likelier to grab the fifth goal, twice testing Sam Johnstone through Flemming and Cullen.
The first close call of the second half went the way of Wolves, though, as Arias’ 25-yard free-kick crashed back off the underside of the bar.
Both sides turned to the bench to make changes of personnel and system in an attempt to change the game in their favour, but for neither manager, the changes had their desired effect.
It was the hosts doing most of the late running for a winner, testing Dúbravka in the closing stages when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s stinging volley stung his palms.

Scott Parker’s men had almost certainly settled for a point in the closing stages, but a glorious opportunity presented itself when Hannibal threaded Lyle Foster through on goal, and he poked past Sam Johnstone to secure a priceless three points for the Clarets.
Wolves boss Vítor Pereira is now facing immense pressure with Wolves rooted firmly at the foot of the table.
