City will be aiming to close the gap at the summit when they travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Guardiola’s side have only lost one of their last 14 Premier League games when playing the day before Arsenal and have won 24 of their last 27 top-flight battles with newly-promoted clubs.
Elland Road will be a challenge
Speaking first on Elland Road and the challenge that lies ahead in Yorkshire, where fans will cheer on their side, who look like they will survive relegation this season.
“Elland Road is Elland Road and the last results at Stamford Bridge, at Villa Park, they have the plus of the home crowd, but we are ready for this challenge again."
"In 10 years I have not been many times (to Elland Road). It has always been an incredible stadium and good vibes. There are many Premier League stadiums that are traditional and Elland Road is one of them. I like Fulham, I like Watford, Goodison Park. The new ones are beautiful."
Real Madrid is always a learning curve
The Champions League draw was made on Friday afternoon as City were placed against Spanish giants Real Madrid, a side they have faced several times in the past four years. Guardiola says to be the best you must beat the best.
"It helps for our club. As much as we play against the best teams in the history of the competition you learn and improve and will be better in the future."
Doku is making good progress
Finally, moving back to the Premier League and his squad, Guardiola handed out some brief team news on Jeremy Doku who Guardiola looks set to be without Doku for a seventh successive game as the winger has not been spotted in any of training images this week.
"Yesterday Jeremy made the first training session. We talk with the doctors and physios afterwards."
