Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken to the media ahead of their clash with Aston Villa this weekend.

City's 39 points won since the start of April is more than any other team, whilst their 12 top-flight clean sheets since February's 5-1 loss at the hands of Arsenal is also unrivalled.

Simply put, Guardiola side are in fine form and will hope for another three points against Villa this Sunday.

Villa Park will be tough

Guardiola firstly spoke on recent meetings at Villa Park, where striker Erling Haaland will look to score in a sixth successive Premier League away game.

"They were much better than us at the two fixtures we played at Villa Park. Hopefully it will be different on Sunday.

"They aren't in the Champions League this season but for me they are they were in the Champions League last season and created a lot of problems. Well organised, quality one of the toughest away games we'll have all season."

Guardiola admires Emery

He next opened up on Villa boss Unai Emery who beat City at home in both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 Premier League campaigns.

“The admiration I have for Unai is so high; incredibly consistent, well-prepared, and so smart. He's really good..

"Defensively really good, set-pieces also and after that they've improved a lot over the last years.

"With the keeper they have it's difficult to control the pressing. They bring a lot of players in the middle, the connection is really good, they break the lines and when that happens they are so, so quick.

"A really complete team."

Are City title contenders?

Arsenal and Liverpool are the firm favourites for the title this season but many are ignoring City's consistency as they climb the table. Guardiola was asked if his side are flying below the radar as they play catch-up.

"In the first two, three games we were done and now it looks like Liverpool are done.

"I'll tell you that we will back, I've said many times that the pundits, the specialists, the former footballers know what's going to happen after five games, I'm not able to do that.

"Ten, 15 games to know what's going on. Liverpool and Arsenal are there, someone else will be there and hopefully we can be there."

Have City been consistent enough?

Finally, the Spaniard spoke on his side's form, which sees them unbeaten in nine across all tournaments, winning seven and drawing two of those contests.

"We have good momentum, not the consistency for 90 minutes.

"It's time to read and understand what the opponents what to do, especially without the ball, and attack more fluently.

"What I said in the beginning is our mentality and our body language is in the right spot to make us stable."
