Analysis

Erling Haaland was in fine form for City, earning a 7.9 Flashscore rating thanks to his two goals, but Rico Lewis (8.3), Bernardo Silva (8.3) and Rayan Ait Nouri (8.1) all registered better scores.

Manchester City were dominant against Wolves pretty much from kick-off.
Match report
After a slow start, the first chance unsurprisingly fell to Erling Haaland, who could not quite get the connection he wanted with a header as it went over.
Wolves then started to cause problems, as Marshall Munetsi headed home but in an offside position.
However, City raced into a two-goal lead against the run of play, with Haaland first getting off the mark by tapping home Rico Lewis’ low cross.
New signing Tijjani Reijnders then added a quick second with a neat first-time finish into the bottom corner after Oscar Bobb fed him on the break - a good omen for the visitors as AC Milan won ten of 13 competitive games Reijnders scored in last season.
To their credit, Wolves started well in the second half, as Jørgen Strand Larsen struck the side-netting before forcing James Trafford to tip over.
However, City put the game to bed just after the hour mark as Haaland side-footed-home Reijnders’ cutback to score his 10th PL goal against Wolves - more than any other opponent.
Another new signing got on the scoresheet late on as Rayan Cherki produced a nice finish into the bottom corner, topping off a ruthless performance.

Following defeat in their season opener, the hosts’ August curse continues as they have now only won once in 21 league matches to be played in the month, while City’s emphatic victory lifts them to the top of the table in the division’s early stages.

Post-match comments
Tijjani Reijnders to Sky Sports:
"Last season, Man City didn't win the Premier League and that's our main goal.
"We all know what we want and we're all sharp to reach that goal.
"You know what big names were in this club, but it was a proud feeling to join Man City. That's what I want to show, I'm proud to play for this club with a lot of fun and love."
Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports:
"First half good, second no. The attitude and many things were good, but the second half, they were better in certain moments, but it's good to improve, winning 4-0.
"In the first game, you never know. We didn't play many friendlies in pre-season, but many things were good, especially in the first half.
"In the second half, we dropped too much, but maybe that is normal at the beginning of the season."
Wolves manager Vitor Pereira to BBC Sport:
"We faced a strong team. Technically strong, individual quality they have better options. We did things well in my opinion, we were brave, we didn't go in just to defend - I don't believe in that kind of game - we had some chances.
"If you didn't watch the game and just see the result it's like they created a lot of chances and we created nothing and it's not true. Every time we made a mistake they scored.
