Match report
Riding the high of their first PL win of the season against West Ham last time out, Wolves quickly found themselves up against it as the hosts took control of the game.
Despite their attacking momentum, David Moyes’ side only looked dangerous from set pieces, and that’s how they found the breakthrough on 17 minutes.
Tim Iroegbunam pounced on a loose ball from a corner, and his mishit shot was fired straight at Michael Keane, who showed the instincts of a poacher in the six-yard box to find the top corner and ease the nerves of the home fans.
Keane almost doubled his lead just before the half-hour mark as he guided a James Garner free-kick towards goal, but this time it smacked the post before bouncing to safety.
The visitors failed to land a shot on target in the first half, and their lack of potency in the final third was summed up just before HT when Hwang Hee-chan was played through on goal but screwed his shot yards wide of Jordan Pickford’s goal.
The visitors dominated the second half in terms of possession, but it took until the 70th minute to find their way back into the game. A swift passing move saw Jørgen Strand Larsen pick out Matheus Mané, and he showed confidence beyond his years to streak clear of the Everton defence before curling an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner for his second PL goal in two games.
The visitors' hopes of completing the turnaround were enhanced in the final 10 minutes as the hosts imploded, with Keane receiving a straight red card for tugging the hair of Tolu Arokodare before Jack Grealish received a second yellow card minutes later for sarcastically clapping the referee.
Despite the advantage and nine minutes of added time, they were forced to settle for a point after an outstanding fingertip save from Pickford denied Hugo Bueno’s curling effort.
The draw means Everton have now failed to win four of their previous five home league games, but they remain only five points behind the top four.

As for Wolves, staying up may still seem like a fantasy as they sit 14 points from safety, but their seven points mean they are well placed to avoid the unwanted record of replacing Derby County as the worst PL team in history, when they earned only 11 points in the 2007/08 season.
