The Frenchman, whose current deal is due to expire at the end of June, has suggested talks with the Reds are advancing.
“For a long time we have spoken with the club, and we are close to an agreement,” said Konate.
He also said there has been little doubt over his intentions to stay at Liverpool during negotiations. “For sure, there is a big chance that I’m here next season. This is what I’ve always wanted,” he added.
“It’s such an amazing club and amazing family. This club means so much to me.”
Talks have been ongoing for a while and are now close to a resolution, with both sides wanting Konate to extend his stay. “We are in a good way,” said the defender, although an agreement is yet to be officially completed.
Konate has so far made 178 appearances for Liverpool, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and two EFL Cups.
Liverpool are next in action against Crystal Palace in the league on the 25th of April.
