Sunderland welcome Everton to the Stadium of Light on Monday night after an excellent start to their campaign. The Black Cats have 17 points from their first nine matches, while the Toffees are 14th in the division on 11 points.
How does Le Bris want his side to play?
Le Bris first spoke on how he wants his players to solve problems and size up opportunities on the pitch.
"As a coach, you do not want to be the main man. That is not my purpose. I want to give knowledge, power and responsibility to the squad.
"I know you have to manage the game in real time, but when you are on the sideline you can't do that because of the crowd and because you are not a player. We have other players on the pitch (other than captain Granit Xhaka) to manage micro situations.
“We are improving our level and are now able to be more proactive, flexible and adaptive to solve and fix problems. And to size up opportunities as well."
Alderete and Adingra are back
He then confirmed that Omar Alderete and Simon Adingra are in contention to return as both have trained ahead of the clash.
“He’s getting better, trained normally with the squad this morning, he’s on the way,” Le Bris said of Alderete.
“He is still a doubt for Everton because he is in the concussion protocols, but we hope that he will be out of them tomorrow (on Saturday). Simon Adingra missed the Chelsea game because he had a small hamstring injury, but it was not serious. He missed one weekend, but he is available.”
Xhaka brings faith to the side
Former Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Xhaka has stepped into the side this season and become a real leader. Le Bris praised the Swiss international and said he brings hope and faith to the side.
"To be competitive at that level, you need to own the performance on the pitch. Granit helps a lot because he can manage different elements on the pitch. He’s not alone but he gives hope and faith that we can win. He shows it, tells it in the dressing room.
"He sets the standards. This is probably the most important thing. He is always at his top (level) so he doesn’t have to talk, just show. It’s very important."
Le Bris praises Everton and Moyes
Finally, the Sunderland boss praised Everton boss David Moyes and his side, who have struggled in recent weeks.
"They are good. They have the ability to score, to win against everyone. There is an evolution in their squad. They are doing well.
"As a manager, you can struggle; it’s not linear. Different moments in your life. You have to deal with different challenges. His career - to stay at this level (for so long) you need a lot of qualities. He has this."
