Liverpool will once again run the rule over Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Mateus Mane today, having already scouted him extensively this season.

The 18-year-old is enjoying a breakout campaign despite Wolves’ struggles, emerging as one of the club’s bright sparks in what has been a difficult year.

His rise has attracted significant attention from Champions League-level sides across Europe.

Sources indicate Liverpool were one of the first clubs to begin seriously scouting Mane this season, and their interest has remained consistent. Today’s trip to Molineux represents another opportunity for the Merseyside club to assess his progress first-hand.

With Wolves facing relegation to the Championship at the end of the season, Mane is expected to have the chance to move on this summer.

While the campaign as a whole has been challenging for the Midlands outfit, the midfielder’s emergence has been a major positive.

The player is understood to have remained calm amid the growing speculation, grateful to Wolves for providing the platform to shine in the world’s most-watched league.

However, by taking his opportunities, he has inevitably opened the door to new possibilities.

Liverpool are seeking greater depth and invention in midfield ahead of next season and have begun considering their options in the transfer market. It is still early in the process, with the club also weighing up the future direction under head coach Arne Slot following a disappointing campaign of their own.

But Mane has a versatility about him that is appealing to the Reds, and he is also showing a sense of responsibility and reliability in his roles.

Mane’s performances have not only alerted Liverpool. Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal have all monitored him throughout the season, while interest from abroad is building, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also tracking his Premier League displays.

There has been some speculation of a £50 million valuation on the player, but it is anticipated he will leave for less than that if a transfer opens up.

At this stage, it remains unclear how the teenager sees the next step in his career. Liverpool are, however, confirmed as one of the teams in the mix - and today’s meeting at Molineux could prove an intriguing chapter in his emerging transfer story.
