Sunday brings a stunning doubleheader from the English Premier League, with both matches broadcast to a global audience on TV and live streaming apps.
The action begins with Brighton vs Crystal Palace at Falmer Stadium. Both clubs seek an overdue win and three vital points to help distance themselves from the bottom three and the relegation zone.
We focus on the match at Anfield, where Liverpool face off against Manchester City. The Reds moved up to sixth with a victory last weekend. Can they beat the Cityzens and score back-to-back wins?
The majority of football fans packed into the famous arena certainly hope so. Standing in their way is a Man City side that’s four places higher in the EPL table.
Man City won without too much fuss when hosting Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season. Football bettors now have a question to answer: will Sunday’s renewal bring repeat or revenge?
The leading online bookmakers offer more than 100 pre-match betting markets, and Flashscore’s football writer Frank Monkhouse explains his three predictions.

Both teams to score - yes
The first of my three Liverpool vs Manchester City predictions to consider is for both teams to score at least one goal each on Sunday. When following this pick, the winning team, scorers, and goal times aren’t important. A 1-1 draw is every bit as good as a 3-1 home win or a 2-1 victory for the visitors. As long as these rivals both find the net, you’ll profit.
Looking at the most recent head-to-head meetings in the stats available on Flashscore doesn’t inspire much confidence. Liverpool boast a pair of 2-0 wins, before Man City blasted their way to a 3-0 result last time. But we’re digging deeper. Backing both teams to score paid out in 14 of the last 20 matches. That run stretches all the way back to April 2018.
Switching focus to Liverpool’s recent results, we see both teams scored when the Reds thumped Newcastle United 4-1 at this venue last time out. Both teams to score was a winner by half-time that day, allowing bettors to sit back and enjoy the second half. It was also a smart wager in Man City’s four-goal draw at Tottenham last week. We’re after more goals.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 8/15 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You need both Liverpool and Man City to score at least one goal each in Sunday’s live match from the Premier League.
Total team goals - Man City over 1.5
We’re focusing on the visitors for our second bet, taking Manchester City over 1.5 in the total team goals market. You’ll find this one available on the bet365 app and website, and you can follow as a single or add it to your weekend Premier League accumulators. You can forget how Liverpool performs for a second, concentrating on the number of goals scored by City.
Pep Guardiola’s team may not have been winning much of late, but results show they’ve been bagging plenty of goals. They netted twice in a draw with Tottenham last weekend, fired another couple past lowly Wolverhampton Wanderers late last month, and beat Newcastle United 2-0 at St James’ Park after notching ten against Exeter City in the FA Cup 3rd round.
A bet on Man City scoring more than one goal landed in five of their previous seven starts in all competitions. Looking at Liverpool’s defensive record adds encouragement. Arne Slot’s team played nine games in three competitions last month. In that time, they conceded eight goals, including seven in six EPL matches. Bet on Man City scoring two or more goals here.
Tip: Man City over 1.5 goals @ 11/10 (bet365)
Bet explanation: When following this suggested bet, you need Manchester City to score at least two goals past Liverpool, regardless of which team wins the match.
Anytime scorer - Haaland
The third and final Liverpool vs Man City wager comes from the anytime scorer market. We’re backing visiting striker Erling Haaland to boost his already stunning stats. The club’s vice captain scored first when Man City beat Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium in early November. That strike means Haaland has two goals in the last five renewals of this fixture.
Looking at the updated Premier League top scorer list, there’s no surprise to see Haaland leading the way. The Manchester City number nine and Norwegian legend has already scratched up 20 goals in 24 games. That’s an average of a goal every 101 minutes. Erling stands above Brentford’s Igor Thiago on 16, with City teammate Semenyo third on 12 goals.

Haaland’s last goal came in a 2-0 win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. His most recent league goal was in a 1-1 home draw with Brighton, and his latest away goal in the league came against Crystal Palace in December. In recent weeks, our pick hasn’t been as consistent as we’ve come to expect from him, but we’re keeping faith by supporting Erling in the anytime scorer market.
Tip: Haaland to score @ 10/11 (bet365)
Bet explanation: Man City striker Erling Haaland must find the net at least once at Anfield in Sunday’s blockbuster.
