Liverpool vs Man City betting tips

Man City win or draw @ 1/2 (bet365)

Under 3.5 goals @ 4/7 (bet365)

Haaland to score @ 20/21 (bet365)

Double chance - Man City or draw

Check the match-winner betting on Liverpool vs Man City at bet365, and you'll see both teams available at odds of 6/4.

That means the oddsmakers can't separate them. Instead of choosing a favourite, they sit on the fence, offer an attractive price on both, and allow football fans to have their say. That's music to my ears.

Liverpool have the home advantage, but there's not too much else to get excited about. The Reds have won just two of their previous five league starts, scoring seven goals and conceding four.

At home, Andoni Iraola's men drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest before ending goalless with Fulham. On the road, Man City thrashed Crystal Palace 4-1, and won the Manchester Derby 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Enzo Maresca's City started the weekend top of the league, boasting a 100% record, scoring 13 goals and conceding five. They are the only team in the division that hasn't dropped a point.

Man City beat Liverpool home and away last season, winning 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium in November, and 2-1 at this stadium in February. The Cityzens also thrashed the Reds 4-0 in the FA Cup earlier this year.

Backing Man City to win at 6/4 will attract attention this weekend, but I'm happy to take them on the double chance market. With this approach, you're covered for two of the three possible outcomes at Anfield. Victory for Man City pays the same as a draw.

Taking Man City on the double chance was a winning bet in three of their last five visits, and six of eight. It's even more appealing when remembering Liverpool have drawn their previous two EPL home matches.

Tip: Man City or draw @ 1/2 (bet365)

Bet explanation: Your bet wins, and you'll land a profit if Man City avoid defeat at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Total goals - Under 3.5

My second Liverpool vs Man City prediction comes from the total goals market, backing under 3.5 goals in the match.

Like above, you're not too interested in which team wins. All you care about is that Liverpool v Man City ends with fewer than four goals scored by both teams combined. A 2-0 home win is just as good as a 2-1 away win or a 1-1 draw.

A bet on under 3.5 goals paid out in each of the previous six EPL meetings. Focusing on matches played at Anfield, we've not seen more than three goals scored since October 2021, when the rivals ended 2-2.

I touched on Man City's 2-1 win over Liverpool in their last visit to Anfield. What's most interesting about that is that all three goals were scored after the 73rd minute.

City played twice away from home last month, beating Porto 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League, and Man Utd 1-0 at Old Trafford in an eventful derby.

Liverpool played three home matches in all competitions during September. They beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the UCL, drew 0-0 with Fulham in the league, and hammered Tottenham 3-1 in the League Cup.

The stats, trends, and form make under 3.5 goals a strong bet on Sunday, and I'm happy to follow. You can play as a single or add to your weekend multiples, including Premier League accumulators and Liverpool vs Man City bet builders.

Tip: Under 3.5 goals @ 4/7 (bet365)

Bet explanation: The winner of Sunday's match isn't important to bettors following this pick. You need Liverpool vs Man City to end with fewer than four goals scored by both teams combined.

Anytime scorer - Haaland

My third prediction at Anfield is for Erling Haaland to score at any time during the match.

Anyone with even the slightest interest in Premier League football will know why I am recommending this play, but I'll go into more detail anyway.

The Norwegian powerhouse started round six as the competition's top scorer, with five goals already. That puts him one ahead of his nearest rival, Liverpool's Alexander Isak.

Haaland will kick off with an xG of 4.4, which is sensational, even for a player as talented as City's vice-captain and number nine.

Looking at his past performances in this fixture, Erling scored five goals in three meetings last term, including a hat-trick when the teams last crossed paths.

Let's turn to how the 26-year-old has started the season. He scored two against Crystal Palace, put one past Coventry, added another couple in a 2-0 UCL win over Porto, made the difference in a 1-0 Manchester Derby win, and most recently helped secure a 5-3 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium.

Tip: Haaland to score @ 20/21 (bet365)

Bet explanation: Erling Haaland must get on the scoresheet against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
