Guardiola’s 1000th game as manager ended in a 2-0 home defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night in what was a disappointing performance from his side, who enter Saturday’s clash having won each of their last four Premier League meetings with Leeds.
Silva to leave?
The Spaniard first spoke on Bernardo Silva, whose contract expires in the summer, with reports suggesting he may leave for free at 31 years old as clubs begin to swarm.
"I want the best from Bernardo, and if he wants to sta,y I will be more than delighted and happy.
"But I don't talk about that subject with him. I want the best for his family. He has been here nine years, and he will decide what's best."
Moving on from one forward to another, Guardiola touched upon Erling Haaland, who was born in Leeds and has netted in each of his last five PL games at the Etihad. He was asked if City are too reliant on the forward, who has 14 Premier League goals this season.
"Not the main concern, but in general, the last game, we did many good things in the game, in defence and of course, Erling is massively important but others are as well."
Arsenal are only growing stronger
The loss to Leverkusen in midweek was the first group-stage loss at the Etihad in just over seven years. Guardiola moved on to that loss and the rotated side which did not impress him on the night, despite the squad being worth much higher than Leverkusen's starting eleven.
"I had a lot of confidence in them. Still, right now I have a lot, a huge, huge value of what they are as football players, and maybe what I think about them is higher than what they of themselves.
"It was a good lesson for me, even with experience as a manager, it was a good lesson for the future."
League leaders Arsenal are currently seven points ahead of City ahead of this week and whilst City lost to Leverkusen, the Gunners beat Bayern Munich in what was a statement win. Guardiola believes Arsenal are growing stronger, which is a worrying sign for City.
"About the next weeks and the next games is just, I've always had experience to talk about the next game and then after that we will see.
"I know the distance is already there and Arsenal is so strong, we see it game by game, they are getting better and better as a team."
Guardiola has a lot of respect for Farke
Leeds have lost five of their last six matches in the Premier League. Farke has seen his team concede at least one goal in each of their last nine Premier League games as they slip into the relegation zone. Despite this, Guardiola has stood by Farke, who is under immense pressure.
"I have an incredible opinion of Daniel. I have I really good relationship with him.
"I know the Premier League is always like that, you are able to make a good run of results but in the end you can make bad results continue because the opponents are tough. It is so demanding. You have to be ready."
