Elliot Anderson is consistently being touted for a move to Manchester United, yet there is some belief that Liverpool may yet become a potential landing spot.
The rumours around United holding an interest in Anderson are true - but it is early days and there is no complete belief yet that he is the perfect profile of player they need.
Sources have suggested that the club are looking for a midfield partner for Bruno Fernandes and there is not yet a decision made on whether Anderson is the right man for the job.
They are continuing to monitor him, along with the likes of Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brentford’s Yehor Yarmoliuk. Angelo Stiller has been linked heavily this week but he is not one of the priority names at this stage.
Anderson is an interesting player to look out for in 2026 because a move to a bigger club is starting to feel inevitable.
He joined Nottingham Forest for £35m from Newcastle United and it is expected that, if he leaves in the next two transfer windows, the fee would be at least double that amount.
And insiders are now of the belief that Liverpool are among the clubs starting to look at him.
A return to Newcastle has been mooted, while we also understand Manchester City are interested in him, at a time when they still hold some concern over Rodri’s long-term conditioning.
But Liverpool are coming into the picture as it is expected they will target a central midfielder for next summer.
Anderson is expected to go to the World Cup with England, but after that tournament - and if nobody has convinced him to move in January - he will most likely be one of the names in the shop window.
