The two former Manchester City youth teamers will face off at Stamford Bridge, with Villa ace Rogers rated as the form player of the Premier League.
Asked if the match will be decided between the two midfielders, Maresca said this morning: "No, they are two fantastic players. For sure they are going to be important during the game.
"But I think both players, they need the other 10 around them to support them and to help them to do the right things. For sure it's about Morgan, it's about Cole, but it's about the team.
"I think he's (Palmer) ready for 90 minutes, yeah. The progression for a player is 45, one hour, 70. He already played one hour against, I think, Everton. He played more than 70 against Newcastle. I think the progression is there.
On facing Villa, he continued: "We need to do our best, because they are a very good team, well organised on the ball and off the ball. It's very clear what they do, the way they want to play.
"They are, in this moment, also full of confidence. That is very important in a football team. But again, we're going to try to do our best, try to win, and continue to grow."
Estevao return
Asked about selection news, Maresca revealed Estevao Willian is fit and ready to return on Saturday.
He said: "He's back. He's back, he's available for Saturday, him and also Liam Delap.
"We didn't know exactly for how long he (Delap) needed to be out, but as I said, he's available for Saturday, he's available also Estevao, so very happy for both."
Asked if Estevao has the potential to become the best player in the world, Maresca said: "I think he's already one of the best young players in the world, but he needs to continue to improve, he needs to work hard.
"But for sure if he does that, he can be one of the top players in the future."
James proving captain's qualities
During this morning's media preview, Maresca also took time to highlight the current form of Reece James. The club captain has been outstanding for Chelsea in recent games.
Maresca said: "I think he's growing in terms of leadership, he's growing also in terms of players, because he's playing more minutes, more minutes, more minutes.
"And this is the reason why we are all happy, first of all, because he can be fit, he can be healthy. And then because we know that he can behave also as a leader.
"He's one of the main players for different reasons. He's an academy player, he's from the house, he's the captain. When he's fit, he's one of the best players we have, no doubt. So for sure, for me personally, he's a main player."
Before concluding, Maresca was asked if he was satisfied with their first half of the season. The Italian admits he'd have happily taken their position if offered it in August.
He said: "Yeah, we are in four competitions. We are there, we are in the Premier League fighting, we are in the semi-finals, Carabao Cup, in the Champions League, we are there. FA Cup, we're going to start in January, so I think we are in a very good place in this moment."
