The Blues go to the Gtech on Saturday knowing a win will take them to the top of the Premier League as leaders Liverpool do not meet Burnley until Sunday.
On facing the Bees, Maresca said: "I think it's always a tough game. It was last year in both games. The Premier League is the best league in the world because against any club it is always tough. Tomorrow we are expecting exactly the same.
"Probably in terms of players, I think there is always things we can improve. Improving players most of the time improves the team. The team, we start to add more solutions in terms of structure, in terms of being dynamic. I think we can still add solutions."
Palmer close
With mystery surrounding Cole Palmer's fitness for the past fortnight, Maresca sought to clear things up by stating the England midfielder could make the trip.
He said: "Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time, not the entire session. We have one more session this afternoon and we are going to try with him to see if he's okay, otherwise he will be out tomorrow.
"He is recovering from an injury, it's not managing him, it's recovering from an injury. When he is available, we need to manage him because of the amount of games."
On Liam Delap's hamstring injury, Maresca continued: "It's around 10 to 12 weeks."
Deadline day business
Chelsea experienced a chaotic transfer deadline day last week, with Nicolas Jackson's on-off move to Bayern Munich eventually being approved and Alejandro Garnacho's arrival from Manchester United rubberstamped.
On the controversy around Jackson's switch, Maresca insisted: "Nico, for me, it is quite easy in terms of he is a Bayern Munich player. I sent him a message and wished him all the best. He was working well when he was here, so I wish him all the best."
Meanwhile, asked if Garnacho will see action at Brentford, the Italian said: "He is working well. For sure, he needs to work because he arrived here not 100% fit. He needs to work. He is working well and we will see. Hopefully we can give him minutes.
"I think we have a good squad. My press conference one year ago, I said I was in love with the squad, so the squad was already really good. Since then we have tried to make some changes, but overall I think the squad is really good."
On being short of a natural No. 9, Maresca stated: "The only No. 9 is (Marc) Guiu and Joao (Pedro) can also play there. Against Fulham, we used Tyrique as a No. 9, so we can also think about him."
Quizzed about the reasons behind Facundo Buonanotte's signing from Brighton, he explained: "Buonanotte is a good player. He was at Leicester, so I had some contact there. He can help us. We have so many competitions and games, so he will get minutes."
Enzo and Cucurella
The Chelsea manager also reflected on the improvements of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Spain fullback Marc Cucurella over the past year he has been in charge.
Maresca said: "It's always about players, no doubt. I think we said already many times, with Cucu, with Enzo, with Moi (Caicedo), even Levi (Colwill), when I joined the club, the situation around these players was a bit different to today. They want to improve and learn. We give them the tools but they are the ones that improve.
"When you arrive here from another country, you need to adapt. Also, I think Enzo is a good player. He struggled at the beginning of last season about what we wanted from him, but the moment he realised, he was a much better player. I see Enzo as an attacking midfielder. Hopefully he can continue in the same way."
74 charges
Finally, before wrapping up his media conference, Maresca took questions about the charges laid against Chelsea by the FA over allegedly breaching agents' rules.
He responded: "I know from the club that they are satisfied about the process. Personally, I have nothing to add. I have no idea, to be honest. I want to focus on the pitch, something I can control.
"I don't think the players are too worried about the situation."
