In June 2017, Costa revealed that he had received a message from Conte saying that it was time for him to leave Chelsea.
"Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the season we spent together. Good luck for the next year, but you are not in my plan."
Costa at the time: "My relationship with the coach has been bad this season.
"It is a shame, I have already forwarded the message to the Chelsea people to decide."
Now, in a preview of an upcoming episode of John Obi Mikel's podcast, Costa has revealed that Conte was never loved amongst the Chelsea camp.
"He is a person who doesn’t trust others. He thinks he knows everything.
"You don’t enjoy training with him, he’s always angry, always with a long face.
"The players wanted to come back, but nobody liked him and that’s why he didn’t last long. The past is the past.
"For me, Mourinho, personally, was the coach that I enjoyed the most. This is because he gives you life. You come to training happy."
Conte won a major trophy in each of his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, scooping up the Premier League trophy in his debut season. He was also the first manager in history to win three consecutive Manager of the Month awards.
However, it is clear that he never had the full respect of the Chelsea squad, despite their obvious successes. Costa went on to rejoin Atletico for a second spell before turning out for Atletico Mineiro, Wolves and Botafogo but is now without a club at 37 years old.
