The Hammers suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday but the Frenchman's performance on an individual level was excellent, earning him a player rating of 8.8.
West Ham had actually led at half-time and Areola did his best to keep his side ahead amid a barrage of City shots - 29 in fact for a total of 3.41 Expected Goals (xG).
He made a whopping 10 saves - the most from any goalkeeper over the weekend - as he continued to frustrate the current table-toppers into the second half.
Eight of those saves came from inside the penalty area and he particularly stood up to the threat posed by Erling Haaland, denying him on five separate attempts.

Arguably Areola's most eye-catching save came against the Norwegian's acrobatic effort which looked to be arrowing into the top corner, but he equal to it as he beat the shot away.
Areola's efforts were unfortunately not enough for West Ham to claim a scalp over Pep Guardiola's juggernaut, but he will be more than encouraged by that performance should he need to replicate it.
He may earn a well-deserved rest in West Ham's next fixture, though, which comes against Romanian outfit TSC Backa Topola in the first matchweek of the Europa League group stage.
