Schär has been an integral figure at Newcastle since arriving in the summer of 2018 and has arguably become a modern-day icon.
The Swiss international has seen everything at St James' Park, from the dark days of Mike Ashley's ownership to the highs of winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool under the PIF.
Including 22 appearances in the Champions League during that time, it's fair to say Newcastle fans will be upset once the 34-year-old leaves the club, and that could unfortunately happen this summer without a fitting goodbye.
Schär's contract expires at the end of June, and unless he renews, he will have played his final game for the club.
The defender has not featured since January after picking up an ankle injury in the 4-3 win over Leeds United, and according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, he is unavailable for the final two games of the season.
Newcastle host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, and Schär will wrap up an extraordinary Magpies career this summer with 251 appearances and 22 goals.
