Tottenham captain Cristian Romero has made the remarkable decision to skip their final game of the season in favour of a return to Argentina.

Spurs' Premier League status is still very much in the balance as we head into the final game of the 2025/26 season.

Should they lose to Everton and West Ham beat Leeds, Roberto De Zerbi's side will be playing Championship football.

Remarkably, captain Romero, who is currently out injured, has decided not to attend what is arguably the biggest game in the club's recent history.

The 28-year-old will instead be back in Argentina, watching boyhood club Belgrano take on River Plate.

Despite his injury, Romero had previously been a visible presence on the touchline, notably celebrating with Mathys Tel after his goal against Leeds.
