Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has thanked owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe for his backing at the club.

Amorim has been under pressure for much of his year-long tenure since taking over from former manager Erik ten Hag. His ride hasn’t been easy, and it wasn’t until the last few months that rumours of his sacking finally died down.

However, Amorim has insisted his side is still “far from perfection” as he backed his tactics this week, which have come under fire much like himself.

The Portuguese head coach has received support from the board over the past year, even after leading United to their worst season in history last season.

Amorim has spoken to Stan Sport about what that support means, especially given the media's constant pressure on him.

"It's always really important, but it's more important for the fans to understand that we have a clear path, and we are going to do everything and continue that path no matter what.

"To be honest, it doesn't change much for me, because I'm not worried about losing my job. I always have that feeling.

"But if you remember when Jim gave that interview, it settled down a lot around the club. The noise changed completely. That was really important for the team, and if it's important for the team, it's important for me."

Ratcliffe has backed Amorim off the pitch with improved training ground facilities but also on it as he was allowed to spent £200 million on the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. Amorim looks like he is here to stay as the Red Devils commit to his philosophy.
