The summer transfer window is almost here, and below we look at several players who have been speculated about moving during this time. We look at why the player is an attractive proposition, what teams they are mooted to be moving to and what we think is the savviest bet to put your money on.

*Do note, all the bets will win if the player is part of the speculated team on 03/09/2025

Dean Huijsen

The Spanish centre-back has been one of many jewels in Bournemouth's crown this season, with standout performances that have seen his name linked with many big teams across Europe. He wasn’t even a regular starter for the Cherries until Marcos Senesi was injured in December.

Huijsen is one of the best defenders at interceptions in the league, ranking seventh highest among players who have played more than 1500 minutes in the Premier League. He is also great at aerial duels - assisted by his six foot six-foot-six-inch frame - and strong at blocking too.

On bet365, Dean Huijsen is down at 12/1 to stay at Bournemouth, which could be helped if they get into Europe for next season. With the 20-year-old having a £ 50 million release clause, it seems likely he will move, and Liverpool were originally favourites for Huijsen’s signature at 2/1. He could make an incredible partnership with Virgil van Dijk and with contract negotiations seemingly stalling with Ibrahima Konate, who is also entering the last year of his contract, Liverpool want another centre-back.

Chelsea are, however, the bookmakers' favourites at 7/4, and a recent article in The Athletic says that Liverpool believes Chelsea are the frontrunners in the race. Real Madrid is ever present in the speculation too for Huijsen’s signature, and he could realistically see himself getting a starting spot in Los Blancos' starting lineup next season.

Our brain here thinks Liverpool seems the best fit for the defender who will learn a lot from Arne Slot and Van Dijk, in a team that clicks and is run well.

Tip: Huijsen to Liverpool @ 2/1

Alexander Isak

At the time of writing, Alexander Isak has 22 goals from an xG of 19.04, with a shot conversion rate of 24.4%, which is better than both Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland. When you take penalties out of the equation, Isak has the same number of goals as both Haaland and Salah at 19, and an even higher shot conversion rate against the two of 29.7% compared to Salah’s 21.6% and Haaland’s 22.6%. Efficiency.

It is no wonder that many teams want the 25-year-old striker who has a contract at St. James' Park until June 2028. In the build-up to Newcastle’s game against Brighton, the Magpies boss Eddie Howe was asked if the Swede is 'for sale' this summer, to which he said: "He's not for sale from my perspective.”

Whilst he did go on to say that he “can’t say what’s going to happen,” bet365 sees it the same way as Howe and has Newcastle as favourites to keep Isak at 4/6. With recent news coming out of Tyneside that they are in a significantly stronger situation in terms of PSR this season, and with the successes that the season has already brought them and still could in terms of higher European qualification, we also believe the best bet is that Isak stays at Newcastle.

Tip: Isak to stay at Newcastle @ 4/6

Liam Delap

Another one of the Premier League’s young breakout stars this season has been Liam Delap. The son of long throw legend Rory Delap has taken the league by storm this season, scoring 12 times in 33 games. The striker can offer more than just goals; his well-touted dribbling is a big part of his game. Of all the strikers who have double figures for goals in the Premier League (19), Delap has the second highest dribble success rate at 50%, only bettered by Cole Palmer.

Delap may be the cut-priced answer some big Premier League teams need to answer their striker problem, as strikers like Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen would come with a high pricetag, whereas Delap has a £30 million release clause after Ipswich’s relegation.

There has been a lot of recent noise around Delap potentially going to Everton to play under David Moyes. Bet365 have that move down as 14/1, and you could see how Delap would fit into Everton’s play quite comfortably. The favourites for his signature are Manchester United at 9/4, followed by Chelsea at 3/1.

For us, Delap to United seems like a no-brainer for the Red Devils, but reports in the Daily Star from earlier in April say that Delap wants to go to a team who is playing European football next season which could put all United’s chances of getting the striker down to whether they win the Europa League. Chelsea then looks more likely to get the striker’s signature, but then there is also the outside chance that Arsenal, whose striker pursuit is well documented, could be an outside chance to buy the 22-year-old.

Overall, we cannot say with confidence who we think Delap looks more likely to go to. We would recommend not betting on this.

Viktor Gyokeres

On to another striker, one of the most talked about strikers in world football. Viktor Gyokeres has had another amazing season in Portugal. He has 38 goals in 30 games in Liga Portugal and has Sporting Lisbon challenging for another league title. Then you see his comparisons in the league too, as his 38 goals after 32 games in the season are 20 more than the next highest goal scorer of Samu Aghehowa for Porto.

With Ruben Amorim at United, Gyokores has the link from both being at Sporting together, and United are in the market for a striker. He is down at 5/1 to go to United at bet365, however, Arsenal are favourites for the Swedish striker, with him down at 11/10 to head to North London. If the papers are to be believed, this will be his destination in the summer and new sporting director Andrea Berta, who arrived at the club from Atletico Madrid in March, is said to be pushing for him too. With Gyokeres being linked to so many clubs strongly this is another player who we would not recommend betting on.
