Matchday four from the English Premier League presents a busy Saturday programme, with eight matches kicking off between 12:30 and 20:00 BST. There's plenty to hold your interest, but the standout comes from East London, where West Ham United host neighbours Tottenham Hotspur in an exciting London derby. Which team will secure all three points and win their fans the bragging rights?
The Hammers enjoy home advantage at the London Stadium and hope to make it count. They enter on the back of a poor start that has them down in 16th, two places above the relegation zone. The locals did secure their first win of the season last time out and know a quickfire double would push them up the pecking order.
Tottenham kick off 12 places higher in the table than their opponents, following two wins and a defeat. Unlike their hosts, Spurs headed into the international break on a loss, but Flashscore's Frank Monkhouse expects them to bounce back. Keep reading as our man picks apart the form of both clubs, highlights the betting value, and provides his picks.

Both teams to score in Stratford
Our first bet in East London is on both teams to score. With this approach, the result isn't important. It doesn't matter which team wins, the margin of victory or the scorers. As long as both West Ham and Tottenham find the net at least once each in the contest, your bet is a winner and you'll secure the profits. It can be 1-1 or 5-1 to West Ham. Your only interest is in the goals, and the bet could land in the opening five minutes or with the final kick of the ball. That's the beauty of the BTTS market.
Looking through the head-to-head meetings, we note that a bet on both teams to score would've boosted your balance in both meetings last season. It was also the correct approach in each of the previous four and eight of ten. As a lover of trends, that's too good to ignore and goes down as a confident pick. Tottenham won 4-1 at home last time, following a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
Analysing the form of both clubs so far this season, West Ham scored once at home in a heavy defeat to Chelsea, before netting three times in a comfortable win over Nottingham Forest. Thomas Frank takes his Spurs side across the city after a 3-0 win over Burnley and a 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium. Place a bet on both teams to score on Saturday evening and hope this renewal follows the form.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 8/13 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If both teams find the net at least once in this game, your bet wins.
Trust an away win for Tottenham
Tottenham fans have high hopes for their side under the guidance of new manager Thomas Frank. The Londoners won the Europa League last season, but endured a torrid time in the EPL, finishing uncomfortably close to the relegation zone. They qualified for the Champions League as a result of that success in Europe, with the action getting underway next week. Juggling two games in a week will put pressure on Frank's team, meaning they must secure wins before a busy period. That adds a little extra pressure to the visitors, but I'm confident they can deal with it.
Tottenham started the campaign strongly, and return from the international break with six points on the board from a possible nine. They opened with back-to-back victories over Burnley and Manchester City, scoring five goals and keeping a couple of clean sheets. Confidence was sky high in the stands, but Spurs slipped to an unexpected home defeat against Bournemouth last time. The Cherries scored early and held onto that narrow advantage. The beaten team had 61% of the ball possession, but just one shot on target.
Interestingly, Spurs haven't lost to West Ham in three matches, a run stretching back to early December 2023. In that time, Tottenham have drawn 1-1 twice at this venue and stormed to a stunning 4-1 home win last October. The visitors are in better shape now than they've been for some time, and I'm happy to place my trust in the away win at a great price.
Tip: Tottenham win @ 11/10 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Spurs leave the London Stadium with all three points, your bet wins.
Play for a big price
Our third and final bet in the east end combines our two previous picks to target a winner at higher odds. Bet on both teams to score and Tottenham to win, and you'll secure a generous 3/1 at bet365. That's bigger than I expected to find, but I have high hopes we're looking in the right places and will get a run for our money.
Both score and Spurs win was a profitable approach when Tottenham hammered West Ham 4-1 last autumn. Predicting the outcome of a fierce derby is never easy, but the stats offer encouragement, and the rewards are worth the risk.
Tip: Both score and Tottenham win @ 3/1 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Spurs win on Saturday evening, but West Ham scores at least one goal, you'll land the 3/1 prize.
