Wolverhampton Wanderers have been mathematically relegated to the Championship following West Ham’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

West Ham's result lifts them to 33 points, moving them further ahead of Tottenham in 18th.

The result leaves Wolves on 17 points, 16 adrift of safety.

With five matches left, Wolves can hit a maximum of 32 points, which isn't enough to leave the relegation zone.

It ends the West Midlands' eight-year stay in the Premier League.

Wolves finished seventh on their return to the English top flight in 2018/19, earning a place in the Europa League.

Another seventh-placed finish followed, but they then lost several key players to elite clubs and form began to slip.

Failing to win any of their first 19 league matches this season proved costly, with their impending relegation all but confirmed before the end of February.

Rob Edwards, who replaced Vitor Pereira in November, earned notable victories over Liverpool and Aston Villa, but saving Wolves was a near-impossible task.

Burnley look certain to join Wolves in the Championship next season. They will be relegated if they lose to Manchester City on Wednesday.
