The Scottish Premiership title race resumes on Saturday afternoon in Govan as Rangers host Dundee United. Following a brief interruption for World Cup 2026 qualifiers and international friendlies, club football returns, and it’s not a moment too soon for Gers fans. Match winner - Rangers
My first pick is from the match-winner market. Here, we’re backing Rangers to defeat Dundee United before a sold-out Ibrox. A victory of any description will boost our balance, with a late goal to secure a 1-0 win every bit as good as a dominant 5-0 victory for James Tavernier’s title hopefuls. The odds mean this one is best suited to your weekend accas.
The head-to-head stats available on the Flashscore app show Saturday will be the third time the Gers and Terrors have met this season. Interestingly, both previous matches ended in 2-2 draws. The rivals shared four goals at this iconic stadium, before another entertaining draw at Tannadice in early December. I’m confident the locals will go one better here.
Rangers haven’t lost to Dundee United in the previous dozen meetings. In that time, we’ve seen the Gers claim eight wins, with four meetings ending all-square. In the previous five at Ibrox, the locals boast 2-1, 2-0, and 3-1 wins, with 1-1 and 2-2 draws. The opportunity to go top will drive Rangers to a crucial result and all three points.
Tip: Rangers win @ 1/4 (bet365)
Bet explanation: If Rangers beat Dundee Utd at Ibrox on Saturday, you’ll beat the bookies.
Both teams to score - yes
Moving away from the match-winner, we arrive at our second pick. I’m advising a wager on both teams to score. The odds are slightly better here, but it’s another that’ll work best in your multiples. When following this pick, you’re not worried by the winner, who scores, or when. If Rangers and Dundee Utd get at least one goal each, your bet is settled as a winner.
Sticking with the head-to-head, I’m happy to report that placing a bet on both teams to score landed in each of the previous two meetings this season. Going back further, backing BTTS was a shrewd move in all of the last five, with the aggregate score reading Rangers 11-7 Dundee United. Both teams also scored in each of the last three clashes at Ibrox.
Moving away from the H2H, I use Flashscore to analyse the recent form of both clubs. Rangers enjoy a long unbeaten run in the Premiership, beating Aberdeen 4-1 here before the break. The light blues also drew 2-2 when hosting Celtic, and battled to a 1-0 win in Paisley. Dundee Utd played three league games last month, scoring six and leaking three.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 19/20 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You need both Rangers and Dundee United to score on Saturday.
Score or assist - Raskin
As is often the case, I sign off with a prediction at higher odds. This weekend, I’m seeking value in the score or assist market, supporting Nico Raskin. If you decide this is the pick for you, the in-form Belgian midfielder must get on the scoresheet or provide an assist for a teammate to score. The talented 25-year-old’s recent stats give us reason to be confident.
Raskin scored when Rangers beat Dundee Utd 3-1 here last season. The visitors took the lead inside 20 minutes that day. Cyriel Dessers netted twice to get the Glaswegians level, before driving them into the lead. Raskin bagged their third goal that day, and the fourth of the match, with 75 minutes on the clock to put the game to bed. He’d love another in Saturday's vital renewal.
Raskin has scored five goals so far this season, with three in 2026. The midfield dynamo from Liege netted the second in a 2-0 win over Aberdeen. He then put Rangers ahead early at Fir Park, and claimed the third in that impressive 4-1 win over the Dons last time. Nico assisted Rommens' goal at St Mirren and had a shot cleared off the line against Celtic.
Tip: Raskin to score or assist @ 21/20 (bet365)
Bet explanation: You’ll secure a profit if Raskin scores or provides an assist.
