The 2025/26 Serie A season enters its second match day after an opening round full of surprises. Reigning champions Napoli started with a 2-0 win over Sassuolo, while Roma beat Bologna by a narrow margin. Igor Tudor's Juventus found success again, but it was Milan, defeated at home by Cremonese, that made the headlines.
The championship is now preparing for a new weekend: the second match day opens on Friday 29 August with two games that could immediately give more answers on the ambitions of the big teams. On Saturday, Atalanta need to react immediately in this away match against Parma, and the statistics all smile on the team from Bergamo. The Ducali have lost their last four Serie A home matches against Atalanta, conceding a total of 13 goals and scoring only five. Moreover, in previous seasons in the top division there has been no shortage of slow starts, losing their firt two matches on two occasions (2014/15 and 2020/21).
On the opposite front, Parma have built much of their strength on away successes with seven wins in their last eight league away matches, with a 24-4 record. Bologna opened their Serie A season with a narrow defeat against Roma, however, confirming their solidity and potential mid-table finish. On the other hand, Como surprised everyone with a brilliant performance, a 2-0 win over Lazio with encouraging signs in offensively.
Considering the state of the teams, we can expect a balanced match. Bologna have won four of their last seven Serie A matches against Como, but come to this fixture after four consecutive defeats including the end of last season.
