The Super Cup will pit the winners of the Champions League against the winners of the Europa League in this one-off match. This season, we will see Paris Saint-Germain take on Tottenham Hotspur at Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy.
PSG were worthy winners of the Champions League last season, even though they didn’t look like they would get anywhere near the final during the league phase. However, when the knockouts started, PSG looked every bit the best team in Europe and knocked out Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal before demolishing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
Tottenham Hotspur endured one of their worst and best season in 2024/25. Domestically, they were awful, finishing 17th, one place above the relegation zone. In Europe, though, Spurs went from strength to strength and made their way to the final with relative ease, finishing fourth in the league phase before beating AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt in the knockouts.
In the final, they faced fellow English team Manchester United and came out 1-0 winners.
Now, PSG and Spurs meet for the first bit of European silverware this season before their domestic seasons even start. Below, we have everything you need to know ahead of this game.

PSG team news
Earlier this week, PSG announced the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille for €40 million. The young Frenchman is expected to be the Parisians' new number one as the current number one, Gianluigi Donnarumma, is set to leave. The two parties cannot agree to a new contract for the Italian, and thus PSG look to sell him with a year left on his current contract.
Hot on the heels of Chevalier, PSG look set to secure Bournemouth and Ukraine defender Illia Zabarnyi in a £57 million deal. The 22-year-old has agreed on personal terms on a five-year deal, but his signing will surely come too late for him to feature in the Super Cup.
The main player who will be missing from PSG’s team on Wednesday is João Neves, who is suspended after being sent off in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea. Neves will also miss PSG’s first league game against Nantes on August 17.
PSG predicted lineup v Spurs, (4-3-3)
Coach: Luis Enrique
Chevalier; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz; Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia
Spurs team news
Spurs will be without James Maddison for most of the season after the creative midfielder suffered an ACL injury in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle and required surgery. He joined Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, Destiny Udogie and new signing Kota Takai on the sidelines. Dominic Solanke is set to be available for the game after being injured earlier in the summer.
Whilst the Maddison injury is a real blow to Spurs, they have strengthened their midfield during the transfer window, acquiring Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and João Palhinha from Bayern Munich. Sadly for many fans, last season’s club captain, Son Heung-min, has now left for pastures new, ending his 10 career with the North London club.
A replacement for Son would seem to be on the agenda for Thomas Frank and his Lilywhites, with an offer being made for Manchester City’s Savinho. The young Brazilian only joined City last season and made 48 appearances across all competitions. Negotiations are at an early stage, so there is not much to go on yet, but the player would be a welcome reinforcement to Spurs' attacking lineup.
Spurs predicted lineup v PSG, (4-2-3-1)
Coach: Thomas Frank
Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha; Kudus, Sarr, Johnson; Richarlison

Head-to-head record
This will be the first time PSG and Spurs have faced each other in a competitive European fixture. PSG, however, have faced several English sides already in 2025, winning five of their eight games played. Spurs, on the other hand, last faced French opposition in the 2022/23 Champions League when they beat Marseille twice in the group stages.
The two teams did meet in the International Champions Cup, an end-of-season friendly competition, where Spurs won 4-2 thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane.
As a result of their run in the Club World Cup, PSG have not played any preseason games so far. They ultimately lost in the final to Chelsea 3-0, back on July 13, and then let their players rest before returning to training on August 6. It will be hard to anticipate their form heading into the match, despite them being favourites to win at the bookmakers.
Spurs have had a full preseason in which they have won twice, drawn three times and lost once in their final game before this match against Bayern Munich. This will be the biggest test for new manager Thomas Frank against the team regarded as the best in Europe currently.
Odds for PSG vs Spurs
PSG are widely seen as the favourites, and that is reflected in the odds. Bookmakers bet365 have PSG at 2/5 to win, whilst a Tottenham win is at 6/1. A draw in normal time is at 4/1.
Odds correct at time of writing, subject to change.
