23:02 BST - That's a wrap from us tonight, thanks for joining us and see you this weekend for the return of the Premier League!

22:58 BST - New Spurs boss Thomas Frank was disappointed with the defeat but said he saw plenty of positives in his first game in charge.

"I think we played a very good game, we played against one of the very best teams in the world, maybe the best in this moment in time," Frank told TNT Sports.

"We had them exactly where we wanted them for 80-something minutes until the 2-1 goal, and of course, that shifted momentum.

"But so many positives, so proud of the team, the players, the club, the fans. It's a flip of the coin when you go into a penalty shootout.

"I think we showed that we can be adaptable and pragmatic, which we need to be like that against a team like PSG.

"Our high pressure and low defending was exceptional. I think the first half was top - almost perfect. Set pieces were also very good and very dangerous. It's key - for any team that should be a weapon, in my opinion.

"I think we showed we can play up against any team in the world. It's a positive to take away from this.

"We'd like to strengthen the squad, no doubt about that. In general, I'm happy with the squad, but in every transfer window you like to see if you can make the squad stronger, so that's what we're working hard on.

"It's a short turnaround, we'll be disappointed for the next 24 hours, but we'll be ready (for Saturday's match with Burnley)."

22:30 BST - PSG get their hands on the trophy in Udine!

22:10 BST - PSG win the Super Cup!

It's heartbreak for Spurs who just couldn't hold on at the end, but joy for PSG who become the first-ever French winners of the UEFA Super Cup.

View from Udine: Tottenham have caught PSG cold in the first half of this Super Cup, and the Parisiens' week of training really is showing. On the ball, they look lethargic compared to their very high standard, whilst Spurs are having joy down the right flank with Mohammed Kudus causing problems for Nuno Mendes. There have been glimmers of the PSG spark in the first half, but Thomas Frank's new structured defence has kept them at arm's length so far.

20:42 BST - GOAL! Micky Van de Ven pounces on a loose ball in the box after a launched free-kick from Vicario. Chevalier initially makes a fantastic save, but the Dutchman prods the ball home to give Tottenham the lead. It's 1-0!

20:37 BST - Kudus has a pop at goal, but Marquinhos manages to get a last-ditch block in.

Spurs are holding their own at the moment, while the French champions have yet to have a shot on target.

20:25 BST - Richarlison is fed through after a brisk counter-attack from Kudus.

It forces a good save from Chevalier.

20:12 BST - A lively start for both sides, with Spurs seemingly playing with a flat back three with Spence and Porro as wing-backs.

PSG look dangerous when they approach the final third, though.

20:02 BST - We're up and running in the first-ever competitive fixture between PSG and Tottenham!

19:31 BST - At 26 years of age and having just come off the back of a sensational campaign in which he played the fullest part, Gianluigi Donnarumma has every right to feel aggrieved that he's being forced out of Paris Saint-Germain.

Is the world-class Italian stopper on his way to Manchester City?
