Brothers Brobbey and Luckassen make history at 2026 World Cup

The duo join four pairs of brothers who have previously netted on the world's biggest stage, and become the first in nearly 30 years to do so.

They are also the first on record to score for two different countries; Brobbey has starred for the Netherlands and netted three times already, while Luckassen scored in Ghana's 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final group fixture.

In the history of the World Cup, just four other sibling pairs have both scored at the same tournament.

West Germany duo Ottmar and Fritz Walter bagged seven between them en route to the trophy in 1954. Dutch pair Willy and Rene van de Kerkhof also both found the net as the Netherlands finished second in 1978.

In a fascinating turn of events, Brazil's Socrates and Rai scored in separate tournaments - but both on their World Cup debuts, captaining the national team, against the same opponent in the Soviet Union and then Russia (1982 and 1994). Both converted from the penalty spot, as well.

Finally, famous Danish brothers Michael and Brian Laudrup both scored in the 1998 edition of the competition.
