Gilberto Mora is officially the youngest Mexican and North American player to ever feature at a World Cup.

At just 17 years and 240 days, Mora has broken the record to become the youngest Mexican AND North American player to feature at a World Cup.

The playmaker has been a mainstay for Tijuana over the past two season, making 53 appearances, scoring ten goals, and providing two assists.

Mora is also the youngest player at the tournament but won’t beat Pele’s record for youngest scorer should he get a goal.

It doesn’t seem like the legendary Brazilian will be losing that title any time soon, having scored his first World Cup goal at just 17 years and 239 days old.
