Julen Lopetegui, the 58-year-old Spanish coach, was officially unveiled as Qatar's new coach on Thursday.
On the same day that they sacked coach Luis Garcia, Qatar presented his successor, who is also Spanish.
Lopetegui has signed a contract with the Qatari federation until 2027 and will make his debut in charge of the Qataris on June 5th against Iran in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
This is the 58-year-old's second senior international experience, having coached Spain from 2016 to 2018.
The former FC Porto coach (2014/15) started this season at West Ham in the Premier League.
Qatar are in fourth place in Group A of the World Cup-2026 qualifying group, with 10 points from eight matches, and are looking to repeat their appearance in the biggest international competition, having been at the 2022 World Cup 2022 as hosts.
