After suffering a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat to Belgium in June, a highly motivated Wales side made the long trek to Kazakhstan with aspirations of getting their WCQ bid back on track.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson sent an early warning sign to the hosts, seeing his deflected effort whistle over the bar in the opening 15 minutes.
The opener ultimately arrived less than 10 minutes later when Moore continued his red-hot form by netting his fifth goal in his last four matches for club and country.
The experienced forward was on hand to tap home from close range after Temirlan Anarbekov parried Liam Cullen’s flicked header from Harry Wilson’s dangerous free-kick.
Moore’s 15th goal in his 50th international appearance proved enough to secure a HT lead, although Wales were given a scare when Galymzhan Kenzhebek curled a right-foot shot narrowly wide in the closing stages of the first period.
As it proved, Wales were also fortunate not to concede just after the restart, with Karl Darlow required to make a fingertip stop to push Kenzhebek’s strike onto the crossbar.
Kenzhebek continued to lead Kazakhstan’s quest for an equaliser, as he cleverly drove inside from the left flank to work the space for a shot, only to drag it wide of Darlow’s near-post.
With the hosts building momentum, Craig Bellamy turned to his bench just past the hour mark, introducing Daniel James and Mark Harris in a bid to find the second goal that would seal maximum points.

Wilson threatened to do just that when he forced Anarbekov to push the ball around the post, just moments after Darlow made his own impressive stop at the opposite end of the pitch.
Darlow saw a late free-kick rattle the frame of his goal, as Wales breathed a huge sigh of relief to seal their third win of WCQ, and condemn Kazakhstan to the third defeat of their qualifying campaign.
